This is one of the least expensive of all forign birds. They are very attractive little birds. They are grey with orange circling the eye and cheek area with an orange rump and orange highlights on the back.

They are hard to breed in captivity because they are very shy birds. They need plenty of bushes and plants for coverage. They can be hard to sex by site. The female has a smaller orange patch than the male.

They are very fast flyers as well as being constantly active. The are often seen twitching their tails back and forth much the way a Red Ear Waxbill does.

My orange cheeks are always hidden in the plants unless they are bathing or eating.

They nest approxamately 4 feet off the ground in a bush or plant.
