Pathfinder Reflection | ||||||||
The pathfinder was a much harder project. It definately took me hours to complete. At first, I could not figure out what subject to do and had to really think about what would be beneficial to students and teachers. I was able to come up with the idea of money management because of my own interest in money. I really think that sudents should have an idea of how to manage money. Most secondary students, which are what I would teach, have some sort of job (babysitting, mowing, washing cars) and just squander away the money they earn. When I used to work at a bank, I had eighteen year-olds coming in to open an account without knowing the difference between checking and savings. So I decided this would be a good category to cover. I know I searched for hours for good websites and they were hard to find. Trying to find various word combinations to get goo d websites was difficult. I kept coming up with actual bank websites that tech4u.org gave in the module examples. Some were more helpful than others, but I think each site I found was on a different search engine. I thought I was pretty good at navigating the website until I took a crack at this assingment. I learned a lot and really hope that I will be able to use this pathfinder in a class one day or maybe that other teachers can use it in their classrooms. I think it is an important concept (saving and managing money) that students need to learn about at an early age. | ||||||||
