Once upon a time, a crow
lived in a nest on the tree beside the king’s kitchen.
The crow lived alone, and he felt lonely.
One day the crow flew out of his home in order to invite another bird to
live with him. He saw a pigeon while
he was flying. The crow dropped in
to have a chat with the pigeon. Both
of them talked in a very friendly way. After
that the crow invited the pigeon to live with him.
“Would you
like to stay with me? My house has a lot of food,” asked the crow.
“Really?
Don’t tease me!” said the pigeon.
“Oh! I always
tell you the truth, so make your decision,” said the crow.
When the pigeon
heard the crow’s word, he absolutely believed the crow and moved to the
crow’s house. One morning the crow
wanted to eat some dry meat that the chef hung out beside its nest.
The tricky crow immediately thought of stealing that meat by pretending
that he had a stomachache and could not go out to find food.
“I can not
fly outside today because I have a stomachache.
You have to go out to find food by yourself, my dear pigeon,” said the
crow.
But the pigeon
didn’t believe that the crow was really sick.
“Do you
pretend to get sick, so you can steal some dry meat from the chef?” said the
pigeon.
“Oh! No.
I really have a stomachache, and I want to have a rest,” the crow
insisted.
Finally the
pigeon believed that the crow was truly sick, so he flew outside alone to find
food. After the pigeon went away,
the crow immediately flew out of his nest and stole the chef’s meat.
He ate the meat greedily and made the chef hear some strange noises.
He went out of the kitchen and saw the crow
eating his meat.
The chef was very angry, so he caught the crow and started plucking off
his feathers. The crow was in great
pain, and he asked the chef for his life. He
promised the chef that he wouldn’t steal anything anymore.
The chef didn’t believe the crow’s word, so he plucked all of the
crow’s feathers and coated him with chili.
The crow was very painful. He
flew to his home.
The pigeon came
back and saw the crow crying.
He realized that the crow
had been punished by the chef.
He added to the crow’s
woes. He said the crow was greedy
and liked stealing. The crow felt so
ashamed that he could not stay with the pigeon, so he flew away.
