A very poor farmer couple lived in a hut at the end of the village. They had worked hard since they were young until they both got old because they had no child to help them. They always prayed to god for helping.  They wanted the god to make them wealthy, but they were still poor.  One day, the god who protected the village sympathized with them.  He disguised himself as a poor passer-by.  He asked the couple for a rest.

They pitied him, and invited him for dinner.

The god thanked them.  He said the couple was very kind to invite him for dinner.  He gave them a magic drum. He said the couple could ask for only three wishes.  They had to beat

the drum after they finished asking. They would receive

the things they wished. After telling them, the god disappeared. The couple was very happy, and they made obeisance to the god as thanks.

The husband talked to the wife. “ We’ll become rich.

What should we ask? How about a great house?”

The wife said, “ Pass me the drum.  Let me ask first.

I want to be the most beautiful woman.” She grabbed the drum from the husband’s hands.

The husband was very angry.  He grabbed the drum back and said, “Stupid! You ask for just hands and feet?! Suddenly, his hand touched the drum.  A lot of hands and feet appeared on every parts of their bodies.

They were very frightened. They said, “ Hands and feet disappear, please.” All hands and feet including their own disappeared.

Finally, they had to ask for their own hands and feet back in the last wish. The couple couldn’t ask for more wishes because they finished all three wishes.

The couple had to continue working hard until they both died.
