Open up the image you'd like to map and then go to FILE>EXPORT>IMAGE MAPPER.
In the format box, you can choose which format you want your image to be, .png .jpg. or .gif.
I find that with larger, more high quality images, you want to save it as a .png format. The quality always comes out better. But you can choose which ever you prefer. You can optimize your image if you like by going to the Optimize Image box. Optimize it to your liking.
Now we can map your image.
There is a small list of tools on the top of the Image Mapper box.

Use either the Rectangle or Circle tool
and select the area to link.
Add in the URL.
You may add an alternate text if you'd like.
(This is what you want people to see when they hover over the link.)

You can repeat these steps if you want to creaet multiple parts of your image.
After you've done all this, go to SAVE AS and save it as a new .htm or .html file.
Open this back up with NOTEPAD and edit your info in need be. Highlight all the text, right-click and click COPY. Now go over to your HTML editor and click paste. You will now see your new image map. Make sure that you upload your image to your site or you will not see anything. For an example, look above at the current header on my site, that is an image map!!!! |
