So what a weekend....I feel like where in the heck do I even start???

So after months...literally December, January, and February .....of attempting to plan our "long weekend" Derek decides to tell me that I wasn't clear enough when I said,"I took off February 22 for our long weekend."  And thus he did not take it off.  So we are planning our "regular weekend"....I have been saying to him literally everyday, as you all know how annoying I can truly be when I want something, "What do you want to do--Where do you want to go."  His response was always, "We'll check into it tomorrow."  Well the vacation was "tomorrow" and do you think we could get any reservations in the accomodations that we so desired??????  I am thinking you already know the answer by now but I will just go ahead and tell you ---NO!

So Derek wants a whirlpool tub in the room and I am demanding that there better be a spa reservation in my name for a much needed massage.  Well if there was a spa appointment, you bet the hotel was sold out of whirlpool rooms and vice versa.  Finally after all my 5 hours of calling around and my very aggitated state, Derek says to me....Just do want you want, you always do anyways...Blah, blah, blah.  So then he tells me this is all my fault because I should have just booked a long time ago, since again...I always do whatever I want.

So, I book a King room at the Grand Geneva and a spa appointment for myself on Sunday morning. 

We arrive on Saturday....so now our already regular weekend has been cut down to a one night stay...mind you not even 24 hours!!!  This whole time my mother and sister are patiently waiting for us to leave....so they can just play with the kids instead of listening to my whining!!

So again, we leave on Saturday---night---5:00 p.m. CST.  (In case you were wondering we weren't using California time).  We check into the hotel, everything is roses and champagne we walk down to the Geneva Chop House, a supposed exquisite restaurant, and set up reservations for 4...as we are lucky enough to have two friends who actually want to hang out with us.  Soonest we can eat 8:30.  Good thing I had a huge lunch!  Derek phones the Herter's apparently they hadn't eaten all day and want to eat early....Yay.... we start looking for another place to eat.  All the time I am screaming at Derek, tell Joe to tell Erin that I AM wearing a dress.  I don't care if we go to McDonalds!!!  Do you think Derek told Joe??  Again, NO.

So we go up to our room....Fun thing: we have two single beds.  Remember that KING room??  Derek is pissing and moaning...I am frantically calling the front desk.  They are offering to send up a bottle of champagne or wine---even offering us a choice red or white?  That is exactly what I want a bottle of booze---when we don't even like wine or champagne....just so that we can get romantic on the twin bed. 

We pack up our things go down to the front desk to learn we are S.O.L. as they say.  Derek rips the manager a new one--politely as possible of course---we end up getting a nice whirlpool suite for free on April 4th....Any takers for babysitting?  Long story short we leave the hotel---absolutely no rooms for us.  They have completely over booked. 

We end up planning to meet the Herters at their home at 7.  It is now 6:05.  We get home, race into the shower...get ready...and leave.  We make it to their house by 7:04.  I am still painting my nails when they get into the car.  We end up going out to a lovely establishment called the Cotton Picker.  We rack up a $240 bill and then proceed to the bar. 

We all ended up drinking way more than necessary.  I guess we were compensating for the  less than perfect weekend.  We ended up having a great time!!!  And I kept the spa appointment so I left at 9:30 the next morning for a massage. 

The weekend was a bust for the whole romantic, away from the kids stuff but I did end up doing a lot with my family...we took the kids to the Jelly Belly factory, we went Ice Skating, to a movie, out to eat several times and went shopping.  Good news is we get a nearly free weekend in April!!!

P.S.  I still love Derek even though on top of all of this he forgets to send a check to my friend Colleen, for the candles I bought through her PartyLite party.  Sorry, Colleen...I am so embarrassed.
