On the fourth of July weekend my Aunt Linda came and visited Japan for a few days. One of things she wanted to see while here was the atomic bomb museum and Peace Park down in Nagasaki. Having not seen it myself I decided to tag along and got some great pictures.

(1) the 50th Anniversary Monument erected at the Hypocenter (2) What's left of the Urakami Cathedral, once considered the grandest church in east Asia.

(3) This monument was erected right below where "Fatman" exploded (4) The preserved and untouched original ground level with debris, scorched earth and melted glass

(5) The preserved "ground zero" (6) The Peace Statue from between the fountain at the front of Peace Park

(7) The fountain at the front of Peace Park, they are supposed to resemble angel's wings but that darn wind......(8) A few Statistics (I apologize for the small size)

(9) The Peace Statue up close (10) What's left of a prison that was atop this hill

(11) A few of the monuments given by various countries years after (12) A Beautiful view of the park with the mountains in the back

(13) A look at the Atomic Bomb Museum (cameras were not allowed inside) (14) Two stone lanterns that survived the blast
