Nijigen has a set of rules
that must be followed to make the game enjoyable for everyone.
Ignorance isn't an excuse for breaking a rule. Keeping current
on new guidelines can be difficult, but most of it should be common
sense.
If you see someone blatantly breaking
the rules or being otherwise detrimental to the game, report it.

General Rules |
Shinji
- The rule-keeper and builder of the game, he volunteers (in the
sense of being paid) his time to make the world. When he speaks
with you, answer questions quickly and honestly. Treat him with
respect even if you feel he is wrong, because the calmer you remain,
the quicker and easier a problem can be resolved.
Stores
- At times, you might find it intriguing to attempt to pillage
and ransack another person's store. Keep in mind, however, that
this often angers people, and getting caught by the owner can
often be quite unpleasant.
Trade
- The trade of goods is the backbone of any economy. To ensure
this, those merchants who lie to and cheat their customers will
be severely punished. If you wish to trade an item, do so, but
do NOT simply use the item as bait for the unsuspecting.
Looting
- Those users who choose to attack other users are entitled to
do so, as they are risking their necks - and their equipment.
However, if an unfair attacker is defeated in your presence, this
does not mean that the items are "up for grabs." They
are the property of the one who has defeated the attacker, and
the attacker himself.
You may feel the need to grab things, but you MUST give your acquisitions
to the victor of the battle if asked. There is no room for ignorance
here, although arrogance should be shown to the losing party.
Objects
- If you see an item laying on the ground, and there is another
player in the room with it, do not pick it up without first asking
if the item is owned by them. Taking things without permission
may be looked at as stealing.
However, in the case of administrative endorsed treasure hunts
or quests, asking first may cause you an item loss. If you're
involved in something like this, ask questions after securing
the prize.

Personal Guidelines |
The following are some things that
have been, in my personal experience, more beneficial to the player.
While they aren't likely to be enforced by anybody, they're something
that would be nice.
Help
- When playing the game, sometimes you may need help. Other, more
experienced players are a great resource. However, try to keep
in mind that they don't have to answer your questions, or may
be off doing something. People don't like to be continually pestered,
but are often very helpful for the first few questions.
However, most experienced players also like other players to figure
things out for themselves, to promote a more self-reliant future
user. This is their choice, so please do not pester them repeatedly
for the same thing.
Donations
- Sometimes, in very rare circumstance, experienced players are
willing to part with some of their goods for no charge. They may
give free things to new players, or to their friends. However,
*asking* for a donation or help doing something with no recompense
is akin to begging on the street.
Sure, you might get something, but a lot of people are going to
look down upon you for a long, long time.
Training - This is meant to
be difficult, so as to promote well traveled, knowledgable citizens.
Maps and directions are often provided by other users, but it's
still going to be up to you to retrieve the necessities of life.
Although, some users are willing to accept payment for a merchant
run.
