Clinical Experience
Senior Resident (SpR); Clinical Immunology
 
Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute (SGPGIMS) tertiary care centre and research institute of international repute. Tremendous emphasis is given on research methodology, biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, scientific communication skills and sound clinical accumen. Two senior residents are selected annually in the department of Immunology through a nationwide entrance exam.
Experience includes, the diagnosis and management of various immune mediated and other rheumatological conditions like SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, spondyloarthropathy, osteoarthritis, vasculitis, Sjogren's syndrome, soft tissue rheumatism  and others. Training also includes managing primary immunodeficiencies, laboratory immunology and HIV medicine.
  Procedures trained in are intraarticular and intralesional injections; renal biopsy, minor salivary gland biopsy, nerve bipsy, muscle biopsy and skin biopsy. I am being trained in basic laboratory immunology including ANA and ANCA testing.

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal is a reputed tertiary care centre in Southern India. It is a multispeciality teaching institute with a total strength of 1500 beds . Apart from managing patients attending the rheumatology and general medicine clinics, I have also been involved in training post graduate and undergraduate students in internal medicine.

Management
Students' Union: Was elected chairman of the students? union of Medical College, Trivandrum in 1997 by an electorate of 1500 students including undergraduate and postgraduate students of the medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and other paramedical courses. I continued in this capacity for two consecutive years. I was involved in organizing various student activities, seminars, debates, celebrations and meetings.
Free Medical Camps and Exhibitions: As the Secretary of the National Services Scheme (NSS) Medical College Unit, I have organized more than 25 free medical camps and medical exhibitions in different urban, rural and tribal areas in Kerala, India.
Free Drug Bank: Was the secretary of the free drug bank in Medical College, Trivandrum. In this capacity I was involved in the setting up of the unit, ensuring adequate supply of drugs and managing the daily functioning.
National Services Scheme (NSS) Activities: Was the secretary of the Medical College, Trivandrum Unit. I have organized various activities of the NSS within and outside the campus. A Japanese encephalitis awareness programme for the local governing bodies? members was one of them.
Specific experience
Earthquake Relief - Bhuj, India (2001).
I was part of a relief team sent to the earthquake hit areas of Bhuj, India. I stayed over for a week and provided medical and emotional support to the unfortunate people.

Personal Interests
Took part in a one to one debate with Mr. Antony Raju (Member of the Legislative Assembly) on the current educational standards and the reforms brought by the Government of Kerala in Medical Education. This was aired in Asianet Satellite Television as a 30-minute programme. Keen on actively participating in such discussions and working for improving the current medical education standards.
