THE GIFT

Friendships know no boundaries
Nor limits, nor height, nor depth
Friendship accepts the best and worst
Never puts trusting to the test

Friendships know nothing of distance
Nor time, nor countries, nor space
Friendship offers healing
When friends meet face to face

To share a friends first snowfall
as their footprints lay upon the snow
Time may melt away the path
Still the heart continues to glow

To travel down old back roads
To see covered bridges and feel Jack Frost's bite
To embrace a friend may seem strange to some
But to their hearts it just seems right

This Old New England town won't be the same
For its beauty took me by surprise
The things I took for granted
Came alive through my friends eyes

We shared but a moment in the grand scheme of things
Yet what more could a man ask of life
Than to have under his humble roof
His best friend, my Brother, and my wife
