Okay I know to most of you, this is a very scary symbol that is often linked with demon worship. Guess what though, it's not. Not at all, to the Wiccan/Pagan culture this is a symbol of of peace, power and the connectiveness of the universe. What we have here is the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water and the fact that they are all connected with the Spirit. The Spirit being which every divinity you may feel comfortable with; whether it be the Christian idea of God and Jesus or the idea of God and Goddess or whatever you feel is true in your soul. Remember that we all our ultimately responsible for our beliefs; and in being so are responsible to uphold them. So getting back to the pentagram - it's not a source of evil but instead of a source of beauty and oneness that should be rejoiced in, not feared. Earth/North: The element used to cast for financial matters, security, grounding, foundations, steady growth, change and Earth magick. The earth keeps us grounded and is something we should all be taking better care to preserve. Air/East: The element used to cast for communication, transformation, humour, inventiveness, and wind magick. We have all felt the power of the wind, so need I say more. Fire/South: The element used to cast for purification, illumination, the God aspect, energy, passion, sun and fire magick. Fire always light our way, it is a strong element. But remember you get too close you will get burned. Water/West: The element used to cast for intuition, healing, cleansing, peace, nuturing, unconscious, the Goddess aspect, moon and water magick. We rely upon water to substane us and wash away our troubles. The Spirit: Last be definately not least is our belief and reliance upon the divinity. The Ancient Ones who guide our life, give us and blessings and take away our pain. So as you can see the pentagram is not a symbol that you should fear it has the same meaning as the cross you wear. |
