Traditions:

There are probably as many Craft traditions as there are different sects of Christian religions.  Following you will find a brief description of the different traditions.  I, myself, am an Eclectic Wiccan - basically this means that I don't adhere to any one tradition but I have my own set of beliefs.  Some of my beliefs are all my own, that which calls to my soul as I like to say and some of my beliefs come for a combination of the traditions.

Alexandria Wicca
Originated in England and founded by Alex and Maxine Sanders.  Alex and Maxine were instrumental in opening up Wicca to the general public during the 1960's and early 1970's.  Alexandria traditions tends to be more eclectic and liberal; strongly focuses on ceremonial magick.

British Tradition {Druidic Witchcraft}
Eclectic tradition drawing from many sources including Druid, Irish, Celtic and Gardnerian beliefs.
Not to be confused with the Druid religion.  Druids are not witches and do not practice magick, although they do have a lot of common beliefs.

Celtic Wicca
Eclectic tradition with a blending of pre-Christian, Celtic and the Gaulish peoples of Gaul, Ireland, Wales and Scotland.  This is an earth based tradition with a strong focus on religious beliefs.  Closely linked with the Druids.

Cyber Wicca
Not so much as a tradition as an ideal medium for Solitary Practitioners and Eclectic Wicca.  Ideal for those who are unable to meet and practice with others and those who have a need to remain anonymous.  There are also many groups all over the world that you are able to join and learn from.

Dianic Wicca
Fairly new tradition founded in California by Zsuzsanna Budapest in the 1960's and early 1970's.  Dianic wicca is a feminist tradition and for woman only.  Many of it's members are poitically active in the feminist movement.  They honour the deities in their femine aspects only and never invoke a God or any other male aspects.

Eclectic Wicca
This tradition does not follow any strict guidelines instead they practice the beliefs that suit them best.  They often mix traditions, beliefs and magickal practices.

Faery Wicca {aka fae, fey, feri, faerie, fairy or fairie tradition}
Founded by Victor and Cora Anderson in the late 1950's.  Based on faery folklore and beliefs.  This tradition honours the Goddess and her son, brother and lover (The Divine Twins).  Based on ecstatic tradition with emphasis on polytheism, practical magick, self development and theurgy {magick performed with the aid of spirits}.
Strong emphasis is placed on sensual experience and awareness including sexual mysticism.  A mystery tradition of power, mystery, danger, ecstasy and direct communication with the divinity.

Gardnerian Wicca
Founded by Gerald Gardner in the early 1950's.  Today the tradition is coven bases and unsuitable for solitary practitioners.  It adhers to the old tradition of full moon gatherings, God and Goddess worship, rituals and celebrations and ritual nudity.  New initiates are pledged to secrecy.

Green Witch
A Green Witch is a healer.  The Green witch heals the children of the Earth by bringing them back into communication with Her.  The disciplines of a Green Witch are to listen, to watch, to heal and most of all -  to teach.

Hereditary Witchcraf
t
Refers to those who can trace the Craft back in their family tree and are taught the Craft by a living relative.  Only applies to the practitioners of witchcraft and not that of modern day Wicca.

Kitchen Witch {Hedge Witch
)
A person who practices from home by the practical side of religion, magick, earth mysteries and the elements..  Usually a solitary who relies on self study, discernment and intuition.
