The four elements correspond to the four directions of our physical world, the four corners of the earth, the four winds and the four quarters of the circle.
Fire and Air are considered male energies; while Earth and Water are considered female.
The four elements are forces and energies that make up the universe and everything in it.
Each element is represented by a colour: East ~ yellow
South ~ red
West ~ blue
North ~ green
Fire represents passion, enthusiasm, desire, courage, force, lust, fertility, virility, initative and rejuvenation. Fire is heat and light. It's season is summer and and it's direction is South/Energy. It's symbol is the athame, sword and candle. It's colours are reds, oranges and golds. It's moon phase is the second quater and it's time is high noon. It's types of magick are fire magick, candle magick and sun magick.
Air:
Air represents mental activity, thoughts, reason, intellect, memory, knowledge, persuasion, birth, friendship, freedom, clarification and expression. Air is moist and heat. It's season is spring and it's direction is East/Mental. It's symbol is wand, athame and smoke of incense. It's colours are white, light blues, yellows and greens. It's moon phase is first quarter and it's time is dawn. It's types of magick are visualization, words and mirror magick.
Water:
Water represents emotions, intuition, insight, conception, pregnacy, fertility, the womb, health, beauty and divination. Water is cold and moist. It's season is fall and it's direction is West/Emotion. It's symbols are the cup or chalice. It's colours are blues, light grays, sea greens and whites. It's moon phase is the full moon and it's time is dusk. It's types of magick are water magick and water spells.
Earth:
Earth represents sensations, decay, patience, strength, health, warmth, comfort, animals, animal instincts, farming and physcial labour. Earth is dry and cold. It's season is winter and it's direction is North/Truth. It's symbols are pentacle, rice, salt, grain and stone. It's colours are browns, blacks, purples and some greens. It's moon phase is fourth quarter and it's time is midnight. It's types of magick are earth magick and any routine magick. The Earth is the source and provider of all our needs.
