Lore:

Ring around the moon, rain by noon.

Ring around the sun, rain before it's done.

If a warm day is followed by a heavy dew, fine weather is likely the next day too.

When the moon is circled by a misty ring rain is to come.  If the circle is large it will rain very soon.

Several concentric circles around the moon mean a long period of rain to come.

In the winter months a clear moon means frost is on it's way.
A bright clear yellow moon rising in a cloudless sky means fine weather to come.

Rain which falls from a relatively clear sky is likely to continue to fall in short bursts for some time.

Rain before seven - shine before eleven.

If a rainbow fades fairly quickly good weather is on the way.
If the stars look larger and brighter than usual and very flickery, rain or a storm may be on it's way.

If faint stars have disappeared and cannot be seen at all, the wind is about to rise.

Thunder in the spring rain will bring.

Thunder in the evening means several days of wet, sultry weather.
When the sun appears hazy with a thin watery light bad weather is on the way.

If the sun looks like a large bright ball as it rises the day will be fair and warm.

A bank of heavy dark clouds at sunset means the next day may be stormy.

A ring around the sun during rainy weather means a period of sunny weather and clear skies to come.

If the sun comes out while it is raining the showery weather will continue for the next few days.

A red sunrise means rain, but a red sunset means fine weather the next day.....Red sky in the morning sailors take warning, red sky at night sailor's delight.

The moon surrounded by a halo gives these warning:  one halo calm or mild breezes, two halos winds or a storm fading slowly and becoming calm. three halos violent storms with gale force winds and snow.
Mow the lawn to increase it's growth 1st or 2nd quarter, to decrease it's growth 3rd or 4th quarter.
