Stalking Dinosaurs the man looks good in black

Some time in the early months of the year of 2000, Ryan Stiles set a date for an improv show in Vancouver. That date was June 10th, 2000. The show would feature Ryan, Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood and more. I was not able to go to the show because I was rather short on money and didn't want to bother my parents for any at the time. But I decided to survey the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in hopes of sighting the elusive Colin Mochrie. This is my story...

I headed to downtown at about 5pm (grad transit pass free for 2 days of the month with scratch and save). There was no one at the theatre when I arrived. I circled the building a couple times then headed to a nearby mall to do something productive - waste time window shopping. Some time past 6pm I went back to the Theatre and spoke to a security guard (who was the same one at the MGB concert at the Vogue). I asked her if I would be able to talk to Colin but she said I would have to talk to the production manager who wasn't there. So I left rather abruptly since I don't handle too well in weird situations. Five minutes later I went back and asked if there was anyone else I could speak to and she said there wasn't anyone but my best chances would be to wait after the show for them.

After the show would be too late for me. I wasn't about to wait around for another couple hours. But I was willing to wait for one more hour. It also started to rain quite badly so that added to my discomfort. After it stopped, I sat at a bench keeping my eye out on the backstage door. But I got tired of that and went to the front of the Theatre where the doors were open already. I circled the building again (the ticketsellers must've thought me strange) and decided I should just go home.

But before leaving I wanted to give Colin a little printout of his highschool photos with a dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb message from me (I should've thought it out more. Darn). I asked some of the door people if they could give it to him and they told me it'd be quicker if I went to the stage door. So walking back to the stage door, I passed by some people who said they saw Ryan and Colin. I found the security guard again (she must've thought I was very strange) and showed her the paper. She was reading through it when Colin and Ryan came out. So she said I could just give it to them now.

I then displayed the paper to Colin and he came over and said it was scary. The security guard then told Colin that I wanted to interview him for my school paper and he said he'd be able to spare a couple minutes. But a lot of people started to congregate around the area asking Colin for autographs and photos so I let him do those first. I didn't see anyone bothering Ryan which I thought was kind of weird (since the show is called "Ryan Stiles"). I was thinking about going to talk to him but he was smoking and didn't look too cheery so I didn't want to bother him. Before he went back inside I waved to him.

A couple people (Nat, Rachelle, Michelle) from the CMC message board also showed up(hey hey, eh!). I only spoke a few words to them 'cause I'm pretty bad at talking in general. Plus I was kinda caught up in the excitement happening around us.

Colin then said he could do the interview at the same time as doing autographs but it didn't look very feasible 'cause there was a line-up forming. I did hand him a poster from my school's improv show for him to sign. A couple more minutes later he was free and I interviewed him for about three or four minutes on very dumb stuff (I suck at interviewing, I suck at segus). I then thanked him and he was off to talk to more fans.

Brad Sherwood also came out and was signing stuff. Man, is he tall! I gave him the poster for him to sign as well, and he wrote "Colin is a girl." I also got a photo with him but didn't get to say much to him other than "thanks." He went back inside soon after.

So that was my two hours downtown. Kickass. I only got one photo of Colin signing something for someone else and the second one with Bard Brad. But I'm just glad I got to meet them! They were really really friendly dudes, nice to everyone. So thank you very very very very very very much Colin, Brad, the security guard, and the QE Theatre door people!!!!

I am probably the most annoying person in the world.
