Self Dedication Rite

The self dedication should be done during the waxing moon as close to the full moon as possible. IT should also be done Sky Clad(naked) if possible without any jewelry (Even the jewelry you will be wearing henceforth within your circles).
For this ritual you will need a black and white altar candle, incense, altar pentacle, salt dish, water chalice, colored candles for the four elemental quarters (Each color respectively),a wine goblet, if the ritual is inside, a libation dish, and anointing oil. Place the four quarter candles ahead of time at the four compass points.

Stand at your altar and face east within the area where your circle will be. Be sure to have a circle marked on the ground that is comfortable enough for you to move in yet small enough so as mot to create excess space.

Close your eyes and concentrate on seeing yourself enveloped in a sphere of white light. Direct your energies enough to make that sphere of energy expand to fill the entire circle. Hold this vision for a moment then relax. Open your eyes, then stand and move to the east. with two fingers extended point at the circle boundary and project energy out from your fingers to the circle boundary and "draw" it with the same white energy you filled the circle with earlier. When you have moved all the way round, move back to the altar always remembering to always move clockwise (This is also known as deosil) within the circle. Even it seems to be the long way around back to the altar.

Take up the white altar candle and move back to the east and light the east candle. continue on round to the south, then west then the north lighting each candle as you go. Now move back to the altar again.

Now concentrate your energies down your arm into your fingers and touch the salt in the salt dish saying "Salt is life. Let this salt be pure and let it purify my life as I use it in this rite, dedicated to the goddess and god in whom I believe. ** The particular Gods you serve can be named here instead of using the general terms "Goddess and God."

Drop three ounces of salt into the water in the chalice saying "Let the sacred salt drive out any impurities in this water that together they may be used in the service of the Goddess and God; through out these rites and at any time and in any way that I may use them."
Take the chalice with the salted water to the east and walk around the circle sprinkling the circle boundary with the salted water. Replace it upon the altar then take up the incense and move again to the east and walk around the circle boundary once again censing the circles edge. Return to the altar, replace the incense burner and say " The sacred circle is about me. I am here of my own free will and accord in perfect love and perfect trust."

Dip your finger into the salted water and draw a cross on a circle on your forehead, a pentagram on your chest saying "I now invite the gods to witness this rite I hold in their honor."
Hold your power hand high in salute with your finger extended saying "Goddess and God, Lady and Lord, Mother and Father of all life, Guard me and guide me within this circle and without it, in all things. So mote it be.

Kiss your hand to the Lady and Lord and then take up the wine goblet and spill a little of the wine on the ground (or in a libation dish if you are not outside as an offering to the gods with the words "To the Lady and Lord!"

Take a drink then place the goblet back on the altar with the words "Now is the temple erected. I shall not leave it but with good reason. So mote it be.

Now sit or kneel before the altar, head bowed, and meditate for a few minutes on the gods, the craft and what the old religion means to you. Then stand and lift both hands high above your head saying "Lady and Lord of all things, hear me now! I am here a simple pagan holding thee in honor. Far have I journeyed and long have I searched, seeking that which I desire above all things. I am of the trees and of the fields. I am of the woods and of the springs; The streams and hills. I am of thee and thee of me."

Lower your arms saying "Grant me that which I desire. Permit me to worship the Gods and all that the Gods represent. Make me a lover of life in all things. Well do I know the creed That if I do not have that spark of life within me Then I will never find it without me. Love is the law and love is the bond. All this I honor above all else."
Kiss your right hand and say " My Lady and Lord, here do I stand before you naked and unadorned to dedicate myself to thy honor. Ever will I protect you and that which is yours. Let none speak ill of you, for ever will I defend you. You are my life an I am yours, from this day forth.

I accept and will ever abide by the Wiccan Rede: And it harm none, Do what thou wilt.
So Mote it Be "
Take up the wine again and pour the remainder of the wine on to the ground (Or into the libation dish) Saying "As this wine drains from the goblet, So let the blood drain from my body should I ever do ought to harm the Gods, or those in kinship with their love."

Dip your finger into the anointing oil and draw a cross in a circle on your forehead, then a pentagram on your heart. Then also touch your genitals, up to your left breast, over to the right breast and back to your genitals again. (This forms the sacred triangle symbolizing the drawing up of power from the root of that power. Say "As a sign of my rebirth, I take unto myself a new name. Hence forth I shall be known as ..(NAME).. For my life within the craft. So mote it be."
Now sit comfortably and with your eyes closed and meditate on everything the craft means to you. It may well be that at this time you will receive some indication that you are indeed in touch with the Gods. But whether you do or not (Because it is entirely possible that you will feel nothing) just let out your feelings for them, and for the old ways, flow from y our body. Luxuriate in the feeling of coming home. Of having finally become one with the old religion.
