What is the WoT?

The Wheel of Time is a fantasy book series written by Robert Jordan. There are currently nine books available in the series, and on many websites - like this one - fans of the series theorize and try to find out what will happen later in the books.

The main plotline is as follows:
Long ago, in the end of the time now known as the Age of Legends, the world was saved as he known as the Dragon and his companions resealed the prison of the Dark One that by an accident had been opened. The Dragon was an Aes Sedai, channeler of the universal energy - the One Power - that turns the very wheel of time, and so where his followers. But in the second before he was imprisoned again, the Dark One's counterstroke touched the male half of the One Power and tainted it. All male Aes Sedai went mad from the taint and tore the world asunder during the time known as the Breaking of the World.

The Wheel of Time turns. Three thousand years has passed since the Dark One's prison was resealed. And now again, the world risks falling under the Shadow. The seals that hold the Dark One are beginning to weaken, and as prophecy has foretold, the Dragon is reborn to once again face the Shadow. But the world fear his coming almost as much as they fear the Dark One. For after three thousand years, the memory of the Breaking still remains; as does the Taint on the male half of the One Power. The Dragon stand against all odds, and he has to go victorious from the Last Battle, or the world is lost.

Add to that, there's a vast number of subplots that - and most of us don't have a clue how - you in some way manage to keep track of as the story proceeds. There is a rich gallery of characters shown, and the world explained to us is realistic and easy to understand. The books of the Wheel of Time have all been on the bestselling lists, which, I'm sure of, most of us people who spend countless hours doing things in ways related to the books can understand.

The first book of the WoT is The Eye of the World. Even if each book is written so that it's possible to enter later without feeling completely lost, it's recommended to start from the beginning. If you want more information on the books, click here.
