| Some people get confused about what is in a BoS, thinking that it's an ancient book passed from witch to witch. The truth is it's just any book you want where you record any info about wicca. There are some published BoSes out there, but having a personal one is the best idea because it's stuff that you find useful and can record. |
| About Books of Shadows Your Book of Shadows is a record of any magickal things that you do. You usually write down any rituals and spells which you come across or have done, information which you find as you go alone such as correspondences, and your own personal experiences of witchcraft. For most people their Book of Shadows becomes like a diary where they write down experiences as well as feelings about the Craft, some people include poems, songs of drawings which they have created too. You Book of Shadows is a handy reference point and you should always try to keep it in good condition and keep it in a safe place! |
| Making a Book of Shadows Some people believe that you should handwrite your BoS, and you may want to buy an elaborate old looking book with plain pages and write in it with ink pen. However ink pen fades and this could take a long time, so some people prefer to use a ring binder where they can organise things into sections and move bits around. Some people even have a floppy disc of Shadows or keep it on their hard drive! Which ever way you choose to make your BoS you can always print things off and stick them in or photocopy pages from books. If you write your BoS in a book then you could buy a book which is nicely decorated or buy a notebook and cover it with material or stick things like beads and ribbon on to make to unique. Whatever you do you should remember that just like diaries your BoS will grow and many people have several volumes to theirs. |
