I got a few of these AM / FM Cassette radios for $10 a piece . The tape player stinks but the 100w radio is loud and the equalizer works great. With 4" speakers you can hear it plenty loud when cranking up the legs ! I made this box for use in the switcher and for a spare radio . |

I use bullet connectors coming out of the radio's pos. and neg. leads . Then I can use any of these 3 cord ends depending on the tractors power source ( cig. lighter , dash screws , or black plug ). I also keep a 3' extension so I can put the box on the passenger seat . |

HINTS AND TIPS |
HIGH SWR - Check for worn coax cable or cracked antenna ( usually right at the base from whipping back and forth ) . Also make sure you have a good ground if it's a mirror mounted antenna . If using a diffrent tractor every day you might want to get an antenna matcher . It won't make the radio sound any better or worse but it will keep high SWR from burning up our CB . RADIO BUZZING - Engine buzz , wiper clicking , heater whining are all a pain in the ass . Some noise supressors are good , some suck . Try running your negative lead to a WELL GROUNDED piece of metal . Most trucks / cars use a central ground and this is why you pick up all that unwanted noise . NEGATIVE FUSE - Because you really can't be sure of the wiring when you plug in your radio . I always run a in line fuse on my NEGATIVE lead as well as my positive . This will keep confusing wiring from blowing up your radio . |

Wood may be good but it sure is HEAVY . My 1st box was solid but it sucked pullin it in and out daily . Not a bad set up when I had the same tractor for a few months . |
