This is the man behind the legend, the actual being that goes by "Dimitri" that is known as "Van Helsing" to the world.
Born when Endless was known as a different place entirely and there were few races in the world, a being named Dimitri was fascinated by the teachings of "Enlightenment", something his race held to the highest regard but had dismissed gradually over the years (as with many religions)
He studied everything about and relating to "The Enlightenment" as soon as he could read. His fascination and desire to find out what he could caught the eye of someone that shared his desire.. a young boy named Dane.
The two formed a deep bond of respect and friendship out of their mutual respect for the Religion. Although the two were never related by blood, they had a bond that rivaled most brothers.
Dimitri's love of writing began when the two boys had become teenagers, although he had always loved to write since he was first able to. Dane had expressed the desire to explore, as did Dimitri had while growing up. Now physically able to handle themselves, the two left their village to do that very thing.
Their first foreign encounter was with a small village on the outskirts of the desert, near a river. They were not welcomed openly. Nevertheless, the two boys stayed in the village for a span of time. Inbetween their studies and meditation.. the boys studied something else. The village itself. Page by page, Dimitri recorded every detail. Dane studied the details as seriously as he did the teachings.
The boys prepared.
Then when the village was at it's weakest they struck. The village could do little to fight back, and it fell to the two boys.. barely teenagers.
It was the first, but it was not the last. Gradually, the places became more volatile.. but the boys got older, wiser and stronger. Working on their physical strength became part of their daily regimine.
Dimitri was not interested in the reputation that came with the conquest of a new area or village and let Dane take that since Dane was the one that did the actual conquest. Dimitri found that he worked best in the background, where he wasn't spotted. By observing and finding weaknesses, he knew when and what to strike. That sparked what would be his second passion in his life, though he did not realize it at the time.
Now both young men, the two returned to their home village. They climbed the mountain in which they meditated daily as children and did their daily meditation that same day. It was during that meditation that they receieved "it". They received "The Enlightenment".
Reborn, the two new beings looked at the world with almost the same fascination they did as children. Although a new entity, Dimitri decided to keep the name he had in his now previous life. The two knew that they had to leave the village again, even though they just arrived. This time, they would not return. The two decided to explore the world on their own, but always met on the "other plain" to discuss and share their discoveries.
The friend he now knew as Seele continued his love of domination and continued to conquer the world. Dimitri however fed on his love of writing and observation. He began to find himself fascinated by stealth and the art of "war" and fighting that Seele had introduced to the world during his many many Conquests which he still continued to write about. He would combine all of this into an art that he would become the father of, Assassination. He spent many a lifetime studying, perfecting and restudying the art that he created. The world that Seele had now helped to forge had room for a person of his abilities, and before he knew it he found himself doing this art in which he loved as a means of providing himself with income. Dimitri never had to create an alter ego for himself, the world made one up for him; "Van Helsing".
He made a significant amount of money and bought himself a home within the isolated limits of the city where he continues to live to this day. Few know the location of his home, one of them being Seele.
Dimitri is by all means a serious individual, but he has come to enjoy many things the world has offered during the ages such as art, poetry and literature. He is a writer himself, authoring many books that have yet to leave the confines of his home. He has a written account of how the world has evolved from his time into what it is today. It is the only known true "History" of Endless, and no one but him and Seele have seen it.
Seele and Dimitri have always found time in their busy schedules to talk about the various going-on's in their lives during their meditation. Although they are not the only enlightened in the world anymore, they are the only two that have held such a close friendship before and after receiving it.
Dimitri still doesn't realize that he created the Assassination game and that every assassin alike holds the image of "Van Helsing", the legendary assassin to the highest regard... as well as the one hit no one could ever cash in on.
In the wake of the collapse of the Academy, Dimitri discovered one of his children accidentally. Spotting Wolverine caught him off guard, as he was nearly looking into a mirror with how identical he looked. He discovered that this was one of his children and this caused him a lot of internal grief. Now faced with giving up his lifestyle to try and live "normally" or trying to ignore the knowledge he has of this son and continue with his lifestyle, Dimitri is faced with another big change in his life.
