WRESTLING INFORMATION

Name:
Joey Brannon

Age: 25 (born on December 24th, 1978)

Height: 5’10”

Weight: 184Lbs.

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio, USA

Entrance Theme: “United States of Whatever” by Liam Lynch

Reaction (1-super heel, 10-super face): 7

Wrestling Style: High Risk

How long has your character been a wrestler: 2 pro / 6 amateur

Gimmick: very laid back / non-schalant (“whatever”)

Strengths:

-          Poker Face – Joey received some advice early on in life… “Never let them know you’re scared”. It applied to bullies at school, but it works for wrestling too. No matter how afraid or angry Joey might be, he’s very good at keeping his emotions in check and making it look like things are just rolling off his back (“whatever”).

-          Speed – Okay, it’s the obvious one, but Joey has to be faster than his opponents are because he’s not about to over power anyone. At only 184Lbs Joey can out quick most heavyweights.

-          Mat wrestling – He’s not the best in the world… he wasn’t trained in “the dungeon”… but he did compete on the team in college and at the NCAA National Championships. No, his school didn’t win (they’re number 6) and it was division two, but… he’s still better on the mat than you are!

Weaknesses:

-          Apathy / non-motivated – Joey can sometimes be extremely apathetic or uninterested in a match for… obvious reasons. (insert toke here)

-          Eyesight – Joey has always had bad eyesight. He began wearing glasses when he was only six years old. Joey becomes blind as a bat without them. When he wrestles, Joey puts in contact lenses so he can see.

-          Stamina – Joey was born with a defect in his heart. Only hours after being born he was in surgery to repair it. Some of the arteries in and around Joey’s heart as well as parts of the heart itself were too small, and his heart had trouble pumping enough oxygen around his body. The doctors stretched the tubes (an unfortunate process that needed to be repeated twice more throughout his life), but they actually shortened up the heart itself to bypass some of the problem. Joey may become winded faster and have trouble keeping up with other wrestlers in peek physical condition.

Finisher: “Whatever Driver” – double underhook driver (butterfly suplex dropped on head)

Signature Moves:

-          “Spin Cycle” – spinning (180 degrees) vertical suplex

-          “Sky High” – senton bomb

-          “Acid Drop” – running bulldog, jump into corner, push off and spin out driving opponent down

Moves:

-          rocker dropper

-          flying crossbody

-          dragon screw leg whip

-          swinging neckbreaker

-          back suplex

-          backslide pin

-          axe kick

-          drop toe hold

-          face buster (onto knee)

-          bulldog

-          Samoan drop into face first pancake

-          Hip toss

-          Drop kick

-          Spinning toe hold

-          Flip over neck whip

-          Northern lights suplex

-          Frankenstiener

-          High leg clothesline

Physical Description:

Joey has shoulder length brown hair that he usually wears tied back in a ponytail. His eyes are blue or green, depending on just the angle you look at them and the light. He has very high cheekbones in his face. It can’t be seen in the ring, but over his heart on his chest is a scar from an operation he had as a child. Joey also has a tribal tattoo on his left arm, a tattoo of the USA flag on his right calf and an Eagle, the logo of his college, on his left calf.

Ring Attire:

Joey wrestles in a semi-ripped pair of acid washed jeans; not in really bad shape, but just starting to rip. His plain black wrestling boots are very short, coming just past his ankles… wrestling shoes really. He usually wears a blue headband with a Nike logo on it as well. On his upper body Joey wears a black long sleeved shirt with a Honda logo on it, but you never see the logo since he always wears a T-shirt over top of the long sleeved shirt. The T-shirt is blue with a picture of the American flag and a bald eagle on the back and the face of an Anime devil on the front. Printed below the devil’s face is the word “whatever”. In the ring Joey uses contact lenses, but out of the ring he wears glasses with rectangle style frames.

History:

Joey Brannon came into the world just before Christmas, and his mother says Joey received a gift that night… life. Just moments after being born little infant Joey was undergoing heart surgery and his life was saved. Joey was allowed by some miracle to continue through life, but it wouldn’t be easy. Playing sports with other children would be almost impossible with his small heart and his reduced lung capacity.

With an endurance test like soccer ruled out, Joey finally found and excelled in one sport… wrestling. Joey first joined the team in grade eleven and found with his natural quickness and agility he could score points quickly… before becoming too tired.

Joey continued wrestling when he took a scholarship to Ashland University in his native Ohio. He was a star on the team, ranked number six nationally, although it was NCAA Division Two. Joey took the team to the Division Two National Championships in his senior year.

After graduation, Joey began to compete on the indy circuit around the United States. After struggling to make ends meet for a long time Joey’s been given a shot to make it in NWF. If anyone will give a kid a chance… it’s his hometown fans. Doctors might say Joey has a small heart, but anyone that knows how he came to this point in life, will argue the contrary.
