3rd Edition Arcanist

(Note this class has not been playtested as of yet and still needs some refinement, feel free to adjust it in any way that might suit your own campaign and style, thank you)

Here are my first draft ideas for the Arcanist, I think they are fairly balanced, the idea for the stand alone class is presented first and then the idea for it as a prestige class of the necromance is listed after.....

Special Ablities:
Summon Familiar (as per any 3rd edition wizard), this ability is kinda cruel to the player in Ravenloft considering that they might end up summoning some undead toad to kill them in their sleep, but it is their choice if they wish to do so............

Scribe Scroll (as per the 3rd Edition Wizard) any scrolls that involve "dark" spells could warrant a powers check (Dm's discretion)

Turn/Command Undead Arcanists can turn undead as a cleric of same level, however their times/day that they can do so is 3 + wisdom modifier because theirs is done so through sheer force of will and is not charisma related

Arcanist Knowledge (as per 3rd edition bardic knowledge except it deals only with things, people, and places of a supernatural nature (which is pretty cool in 3rd edition considering a lot of abilities and such are "supernatural" in nature)
Bonuses to saves Arcanists recieve a +2 to all saves vs. necromancy and their opponents recieve a -2 to their necromantic spells

Arcanists recieve a +2 to all spellcraft checks for learning necromantic spells

Highly restricted school access Arcanists only recieve access to necromancy + 2 schools of their choice

Corruption Arcanists tend to draw the attention of the dark powers more than other classes, every level they attain as an Arcanist they must make a power check with a percent failure equal to 5 * level as Arcanist (note: this is stressed as Arcanist level only because if multi-classed they technically would have a higher level in the overall rules *Arcanist level + level of class they multi-classed into*)

All special abilites are gained at first level and otherwise the Arcanist advances as a specialist wizard by 3rd edition rules. Spells per level are the same as per a specialist wizard of the same level.
