This is a song that explains some of my feelings when my Uncle had passed on. Death comes to us all but when it comes to the rest of us through another it is hard to accept. I had a respect for my uncle for many reasons. For one there was so much there he had to teach but after death I will never get the chance to know. I was one out of three counted who came to the funeral in the true native fashion. When I seen him laying in rest I felt a part of me was forever lost. anyhow, this is a song that came about after the funeral...

MIGHTY WOLF

As the cask laid there open I didn't know how to feel
Standing there ridged I couldn't believe this was real
So much is lost and nothing gained hurts deep inside
Now that another has fallen there is no place for me to hide
My hair wouldn't hide my eyes nor my braids hold me
As my brother stood by I knew his mind would agree
We are the lost and not by our choice all we have is dream
This is how we came and this is how we became in been
Our feathers hung in sorrow and we held our voice
To watch the door close where we had no choice
Accept it and realize we are the last after us it is gone
Like the dying echoes of a once forgotten song

(cc1)
Go my friend go in peace
Mighty Wolf wait there for me
Go in peace go my father
Mighty Wolf wait there for me

I heard her song of sorrow rip through my heart
Woman and man finally have been split apart
Warriors stood by veteran fathers by their sons
And I cringed at the sound of the blasting guns
I silently wept with the women but held my pride
I cursed the preacher who was he to confide
In a dead man far greater then any here could say
For like us all we didn't care for it and we turned away
For me I lost a chance to understand one last thing
I close my eyes and I never forget the scene
When its my time I pray they don't cry for me
For like the others I will be set to go off free

(repeat cc1)
