This is a song I wrote when I woke up from a very vivid dream about someone I cared about. Anyhow to begin the story I once loved a woman who had some major family problems. To make the story short an abusive father. At the age and time there was very little I could do but comfort her and hold her. There was a time that I almost ran away with her. Instead of actually pulling it off we basically got so far and then turned back around. My dream opened up as if I was a third person and all the events happened just as they did. It was like I was trying to push myself but yet the young man who I was trying to get through too just didn't hear me. Instead he just calmly listened and let her talk herself out of it. Then I found myself saying all the things that I should have said then... Its sort of crazy... Even though I highly doubt we would have got very far I still think we should have risked it. We had all the support even from adults of other families... but yet... we didn't make that jump that could have changed our lives. Instead I hear her younger brother made the jump and succeeded where we failed... Anyhow, the title came from a saying that I always used to say to her. My dreams lay elsewhere... When you have to run out of a situation its best never to look back and the bottom line is...
