Upclose & Personal: New kid on the Block

Being the only youngster, you may think that Max Leblanc feels out of place and neglected. But far from your generation gaps, Max, Kelly, Arsne and Grognard get along very well together indeed. For sure, Max is never short of attention from his adult companions. And with such an innocent face,he never fails to draw smiles from the grown-ups, and that includes the normally aloof Inspector Ganimard!

Max is a pretty enigmatic character in his own way. All we know about Max is that he now lives with Kelly and doubles up as her assitant photographer for the New York Inquirer. As for the rest of his background or his past, it remains pretty much a mystery that perhaps only Max himself can answer.* However, considering that he has an ample supply of role models to look up to ( well... to teach him between right or wrong anyway *snigger* ), Max couldn't have turned out a finer young lad than had Kelly and Lupin been his REAL parents.

Being underaged may mean being forced to eat his brocoli and going to bed early, but Max also possesed the child-like inqusitiveness and sharp observanance that adults sometimes lack. He is usually the first one to spot Lupin in his disguise, and is often the first one to notice the baddies a mile away and sense trouble.Mind you, that 'tough act' that Kelly sometimes put on in front of Lupin doesn't fool him one bit either.

Brocoli aside, Max has a natural weaknessfor food. So following Kelly to the boring news conferences isn't really a chore to him, since food is always provided there (and not a brocoli in sight) ! But hey! A growing kid's gotta eat. And Max is certainly growing up fast ~ after all, you can't deny that he already knows more about Lupin than the entire French police force combined. He may not be in on much of the REAL action, but Max definately knows how to enjoy his youth, well ... to the MAX!

( * It is generally believed that Max's character is a tribute to the Maurice Leblanc, the author who first pened the exploits of Arsene Lupin. I think it's rather nice of Cinair to make him a kid again! After all, kids do have that innocent charm about them...awww* )
