Upclose & Personal: The Sargent
The mirror half of Inspector Ganimard, Sargent Folefant is more often than not a liability rather than an asset to the French police, not that it was entirely his fault. His overenthusiastic nature often causes him to act on impulse, creating more trouble than he bargained for. Just catch him attempting to pull off the 'disguise' of a potential 'Lupin' and you'll understand why... *yeeouch!*
His biggest flaw is probably that overinflated ego of his (woah! how could so much hot air come out of such a whiney larynx is still a mystery). However, our Sargent is a pretty insercure person. Perhaps one could even claim that he is a bit of a coward. After all, he isn't in much of a hurry to play hero. ( dreaming of being one is another story though.) But when it comes to the crunch , he may just surprise you...
Our Sargent here secretly ( ok maybe not that secretly ) holds a torch for our dear reporter Kelly.� Unfortunately, good as he may be for a few laughs, he doesn't stand a chance, especially since the competition we're talking about here is none other than our caped Casanova Lupin. Looks like Folefant is back to the ranks of a rookie when it comes to� impressing the ladies ( and that ego of his isn't helping either )
Perhaps he just tries too hard for his own good, but you've got to admit it can be pretty daunting to partner someone who has years of experience under his belt. Folefant tries so hard, probably because he wants to prove that he can be just as good a detective as the Inspector to earn his respect...and of course..it's also for the sake of impressing Kelly. (having his name up in the headlines couldn't hurt either!)
Dispite being unlucky in work and in love, Folefant has never stopped trying. He still maintains high optimism and enthusiasm for his work, and hopes of one day impressing Kelly. His ego shields him from feeling too sorry for himself, and hides his insercurities pretty well too.�
He's not really that bad, if he'd ease up on his 'ego act'� a little he may actually get to have more friends in the future...and more respect! It's a good thing that Lupin is secretly helping to keep his track record impressive, because with the Sargent here, he's going to need all the help he can get.
