Remember Me
Chapter 1

He remembered, stumbling into the house, gritting his teeth and squeezing his shoulder. Between his fingers, blood seeped, and the moonlight turned his brilliantly black hair a strange lunar color as he opened the door. He nearly fell into the living room, then bit back a surprised yelp.
Lying on the floor amid a pool of crimson and an ocean of honey blond hair, Jessica’s midday eyes were wide and dead, full of nothing, yet screaming everything at the same time. It was that moment, he realized. When Brad became Crawford. When the very life was yanked from his body and he was left as nothing but a shell. Nothing but Crawford. Brad had died that day, crumpled to the floor in a heap of sorrow and regret. Crawford was born, the tomb in which Brad now resides, a corpse of emotions.

Nagi sighed as he pulled Crawford’s muscular frame against his slight body, wrapping the American up in a shield. The slender brunette sighed and laid his cheek against Brad’s head; curling locks of raven hair as the man slept.
He felt a great sense of longing to protect the man in his arms, but knew he couldn’t. Not from the past. He admitted he was jealous of Jessica Crawford, but what was the point of being jealous of a dead woman? He wasn’t angry with Brad for still loving her in a way you just couldn’t explain, for he would always love Tot that way.
His happiness seeped from his body at the thought of her. How had she died? Drug overdose. It was his fault, he should have known the deaths of Hell, Neu, Schoen and even Masafumi would effect her more.
Nagi was shaken from his thoughts when Crawford began to mumble and twitch in his sleep. A nightmare. Another one about Jessica. The telekinetic sighed again. This had been happening on a regular basis for about two months. Not even Schuldich’s telepathy could change the dreams. All the German could do was wake up scared shitless.
The slender Japanese boy could only hold the American after he woke up and murmur words of comfort. It flustered the telekinetic to know this.

Yohji huffed as he slammed the door to the Weiss household. Stupid Aya. He always started it. No matter how lenient Yohji was when his red headed lover was in a bad mood, they always managed to fight. It was an everyday thing now, fight some time before noon and make up and out before dinner. There was always yelling, name calling and slamming doors involved. At first, Ken and Omi tried to calm them down, now they just left. Which Yohji could understand.
He walked out into the cold winter air, hugging himself, even if he knew it wouldn’t warm him up. After these fights he felt cold on the inside, his entire being becoming nothing more than an ice cavern for frozen love. He walked aimlessly, ignoring the Christmas carols blaring from stores, happy families and lovey-dovey couples. Soon, he found himself standing outside of the library. It was a large looming building with two twin griffins standing guard on either side of the steps.
The cold won and he walked inside, telling himself he could at least find a detective book or something. He walked inside and spotted someone familiar almost instantly. Sitting in the empty building was two of Schwarz’s members. The leader, Brad Crawford and their tactician, Nagi Naoe. He narrowed his emerald green eyes, noticing they were looking threw newspapers from four to two years’ back.
He walked over to them, shoes clicking against the tile. Nagi looked up and his midnight eyes widened.

“What do you want, Weiss?” Crawford mumbled, pushing his glasses up.

“What are you doing here?” Yohji hissed his voice quiet. Nagi blinked and seemed to spot something.

“There.” He pointed out to Crawford. Yohji looked and found an article on Ryotto.

“Why the hell are you looking them up?” The Weiss assassin mumbled as he scanned it. It was about the discovery of the underground organization’s smaller, disposable, fraction Mars.

“None of your business.” Nagi snapped.

“You’re not going to find much like this.” Yohji stated.

“How else are we going to get information? They have no computer system to hack, thanks to you guys.” Nagi muttered. It was true. Some how, Persia had been wrong and Ryotto was back. Or a company like it. They couldn’t be sure for after their first attack, the computer system was totally destroyed. They now kept everything in either written documents or didn’t write it down at all.

“Tell me why you need this information and I’ll tell you how to get it.” Yohji folded his arms across his chest, knowing full well they knew he could get it.

Nagi opened his mouth to answer but Crawford cut him off. “I am investigating the company because I have reason to believe they had my wife murdered because I killed their first president five years ago.” Yohji stared at him, his brow wrinkling.

“You were married???” He seemed surprised, shock written on his face. Crawford frowned when Nagi sniggered behind his hand. Both Schwarz members became weary when a playful glint reared its head in Yohji’s eyes. “If this is true, you’re going to take down the new Ryotto.”

“Neon God.” Crawford stuck in.

“Whatever. I want to help.” The glint in his eyes turned to hard stone.

“Why?” Nagi folded his arms across his slender body.

“They killed somebody I loved…” Yohji looked away. “Somebody I could have loved as well.” At the mention of his love life, he sneered at the thought of Aya.

“Weiss and the rest of Schwarz must not know.” Crawford informed him. “The chances of us meeting in battle are low at the moment.” Yohji raised his eyebrows.

“Our newest employer is a crazy old fart who makes us guard his daughter.” Nagi made a face. Yohji smacked his forehead.

“This is what kicked my ass so many times??” He mumbled at himself. “I can pull a few strings and get the information. I’ll have it soon.”

“Fine.” Crawford glared slightly. “Once this partnership is over, we are enemies again.”

“Fine with me.” Yohji shrugged non-chalantly.

“Did you know 14% of Americans surveyed agree that Puerto Rico should not be the 51st state because "that extra star would make the flag look bad’’?” Nagi asked from behind a newspaper. Yohji snorted.
