I don’t know why she meant so much to me. I mean, brothers are supposed to love and protect their younger sisters, but she was special to me. She seemed to even out my distant personality. I wasn’t nearly as cold and frozen as I am now, Ran merely scratched the surface of Aya. Ran is so much more different than Aya. Ran had potential, Ran had laughter-rare as it was- and Ran had smiles. Aya set his laughter upon the shelf and had taken up arms, revenge filling his heart like a dark cloud, depression and anger feeding the fire that created the haze that smeared his emotions across a wall of cruel fate.
I swore that day, the day everything seemed to reel with explosion, and the destruction still not wholly removed from Aya’s heart. That day, I swore I would avenge them, and her. That I would turn myself into a monster, that I would devote my life to a sick maze of bloodshed, that anything and anyone associated with their pain would be torn to ribbons. I swore that day that Ran no longer existed that his innocence would be tucked away safely behind sheets of petals and walls of thorns.
But somebody is trying to rip threw those thorned bushes, slashing and hacking at them valiantly, trying to reach the pure brilliance of Ran. But Aya is trying to fight him off, trying to keep his sacred vow. It’s not true, you know. Love doesn’t conquer all. Love and happiness pale to dull reds compared to the misty black haze of rage and torment. They shrink away from the colossal power Aya wields.
But Aya is starting to regret. He wants to let Ran finally leave, let the pure velvety red angel spread his wings. But still, the memories of that day flock to his regret, eating it away like acid poured threw metal. He wants to feel, to love, to cherish somebody with utmost devotion and feel the same towards him. Every vow whispered, every promise spoken, every threat woven, is now regretted.
Threw all the pain Aya has faced along the way, he’s always done it for her. And he’s always protected Ran. But he’s always regretted one promise. He swore to God that he would die for her, die if it meant revenge.

But not like this.
