1. The first thing you need to do is take all of your cards and put them in 9 piles: red, green, blue, black, white, artifacts, artifact creatures, and lands. You may want to sort the lands the same way (into the 5 colors: red, blue, green, white and black) then see what color you have the most of. If this is your first time building a deck you may want to start off with only making your deck one color, to keep things simple.
2. The next thing that you need to do is set all of your cards of the chosen color(s) aside, these will be the cards that you use for your deck, the extras, you can discard. Remember that artifacts take any kind of mana, so they can go into any deck, you may want to hold on to any artifacts that you have, they can prove to be quite useful.
3. Next, divide your cards into four piles. One is of creatures, another of lands, and the third of sorcereries, enchantments and instants, and the fourth of artifacts and artifact creatures.
*NOTE: you should have a MINIMUM of 60 cards total, before dividing your cards
into three piles! This is the MINIMUM number of cards that a deck can be made of.*
**NOTE2: REMEMBER! Enchant creatures ARE enchantments!!**
4. Now, sort through your creature pile and make the pile about 20 cards(putting the 20 cards into your "deck pile").
5. Do the same for your pile of sorcereries, enchantments and instants. Except, make this pile around 18-17 cards.
6. When you sort through your lands make sure that they are only the color(s) of your deck. And make sure that you have a little over 20 cards. Remember to make sure that your entire deck has a total of 60 cards, and no less. It is ok to go a bit over 60, but right now, no more than 75 MAXIMUM!
AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS!!!
7. Now, you can add in any artifacts that you may have. It�s good to only have a few artifacts at this point. We will say that 10 artifacts/artifact creatures is too many, for the purposes of this deck.
8. Now that you should have about 60 cards you are ready to play. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have now successfully made your 1st deck.
