Nigel Horne
Nigel Horne is a music composer, arranger and tutor.
He was born and raised on the Kent coast and has had over thirty-five years in the brass band and choral movements.
He is now an established composition and arrangment tutor, tutoring one-to-one and small classes in music theory, composition and orchestration.
He learnt the tenor horn with the Margate Silver Band and after graduating in Computer Science joined the Hendon Band in London. He has since moved to percussion, playing with many other championship section bands including Yorkshire Imps and Carlton Main Frickley. He has a wide musical experience that covers choral as well as brass band music and is known as a composer and arranger - he now runs NJH music: a publisher for himself and other composers.
He has worked with and conducted bands of all abilities from many countries. Nigel has a degree covering music from the Open University and a degree in band studies from Sheffield University and is now working at Leeds University on a research degree into composition primarily for brass and wind bands.
