Why Drugs?

Drug use is one of my major pet peeves. It is one of the three main things that makes me hate teenagers so much. (See if you can find the other two. ^_^) It gets me SO unbelievably angry when people do drugs. Tis all to be cool. And don't try to deny it. Don't tell me you like to experiment with them; don't tell me that you want to get high; don't tell me you like to be one with nature or some excuse like that.

Tis funny how kids never knew about drugs until the police came to the elementary schools and taught the kids "DARE" to try to scare kids out of doing drugs. Yet after that, kids wanted to do drugs. Funny how that works. The DARE program backfired. It shows how children want to do drugs to rebel against parents and the police. Rebelling is kool. Notice how all the kool kids are the ones who break all the rules.

Most people want to do drugs to "get high." That's just plain pathetic that you have to waste your money on something that HARMS YOUR BODY to be happy. And anyway, the happiness only lasts so long. With alcohol (which is a drug, along with cigarettes), you get depressed afterward. With other drugs, once it wears off, you are unhappy because you crave more. Then you get addicted. Do you think addicted people are happy? Not being able to function without a DRUG? That's pathetic. Humans are supposed to be the most intelligent creatures on Earth. They're able to do so many things that other animals cannot. Is this how you druggies show your thanks by ruining your body with chemicals that chip away at it?

Some people want to do drugs because they don't care about life and don't fear death. WELL IF YOU WANT TO DIE SO MUCH, WHY DON'T YOU JUST KILL YOURSELF AND RID THE WORLD OF YOUR WRETCHED PRESENCE?!

Then there's the people who like to experiment with drugs. Come on now people, get a life. Go experiment with falling off a cliff or something. Why add to the wealth of drug dealers who haven't earned a single penny?

And the people who want to be one with nature. You don't have to smoke weed or something to be one with nature. Just go out there and hug a tree. Roll around in the dirt. Breathe the air. Frolic with the animals. No need for drugs.

See, your so-called reasons for doing drugs are really not reasons at all. They're EXCUSES. LAME EXCUSES. The real reason is to be cool. It all started back in middle/high school when all the kids talked about it, smiling to their friends, like they were all that. You want that happiness, that power, that popularity. You want to feel wanted, appreciated, COOL. Admit it -- it makes you feel like one of the crowd when you do drugs. I'm sorry, but druggies are weak little saplings that don't deserve to live. I hope they all get cancer and choke on their poison and die a slow, long, painful death. JUST DIE.

2008 Update

If I could really have things my way, I'd gather up all the drugs in the world and blow them up. But that isn't possible. Making drugs illegal doesn't work. People still buy the drugs, just at jacked up prices. So I am pro-legalizing drugs; it will lower the cost of them and enable them to be taxed by the government. Sometimes drugs aren't harmful in small quantities, like when drinking a glass of wine at dinner or taking marijuana for medical reasons. What I am against is getting drunk, high, intoxicated, whatever you want to call it. So sure, let's legalize drugs. But get high off them, and you deserve to be killed. People who get high do it because they don't value their life enough to protect it or because their lives are so miserable that they want to escape them. Learn to deal with life or be gone from it.

This was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to meth.  She wrote this while in jail.  As you will soon read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug, as she tells in this simple, yet profound poem.  She was released from jail, but, true to her story, the drug owned her.  They found her dead not long after.
My name: “Is Meth”

I destroy homes, I tear families apart,
Take your children, and that’s just the start.
I’m more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold,
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remember I’m easily found,
I live all around you – in schools and in town.
I live with the rich; I live with the poor,
I live down the street, and maybe next door.

I’m made in a lab, but not like you think,
I can be made under the kitchen sink.
In your child’s closet, and even in the woods,
If this scares you to death, well it certainly should.

I have many names, but there’s one you know best,
I’m sure you’ve heard of me, my name is crystal meth.
My power is awesome; try me you’ll see,
But if you do, you may never break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go,
But try me twice, and I’ll own your soul.
When I possess you, you’ll steal and you’ll lie,
You’ll do what you have to – just to get high.

The crimes you’ll commit for my narcotic charms
Will be worth the pleasure you’ll feel in your arms.
You’ll lie to your mother; you’ll steal from your dad,
When you see their tears, you should feel sad.

But you’ll forget your morals and how you were raised,
I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids,
I turn people from God, and separate friends.

I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride.
I’ll be with you always – right by your side.
You’ll give up everything – your family, your home,
Your friends, your money, then you’ll be alone.

I’ll take and take, till you have nothing more to give,
When I’m finished with you, you’ll be lucky to live.

If you try me be warned – this is no game,
If given the chance, I’ll drive you insane.
I’ll own you completely, your soul will be mine.

The nightmares I’ll give you while lying in bed,
The voices you’ll hear, from inside your head.
The sweats, the shakes, the visions you’ll see,
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.

But then it’s too late, and you’ll know in your heart,
That you are mine, and we shall not part.
You’ll regret that you tried me, they always do,
But you came to me, not I to you.

You knew this would happen, many times you were told,
But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.
You could have said no, and just walked away,
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?

I’ll be your master, you will be my slave,
I’ll even go with you, when you go to your grave.
Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not?  It’s all up to you.

I can bring you more misery than words can tell,
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

Many druggies deny that what they're doing is a drug. Some say marijuana isn't a drug, and most say alcohol and nicotine aren't drugs. Well you can stop living in denial, because here are the facts from a sociology text book:

"Alcohol is the standard recreational drug of Americans" (564).
"Each year, 700,000 Americans seek treatment for alcohol problems, and about 20,000 die from alcohol abuse" (565).
"Nicotine is, by far, the most lethal of all recreational drugs" (565).
"About 25 million Americans (including 5 million of today's children) will die prematurely of smoking-related diseases" (565).
"Driving under the influence of any drug, including marijuana, can be fatal" (565).
"Nicotine kills about 400,000 Americans each year" (565).

And I found these statistics from the same book very interesting:
