The dark and dismal figure
(written by "Ellis hornet") - 4/27/98

The eternal darkness filled the night
When suddenly a dark and dismal figure came into sight
The gravity of this beast seemed to draw in the light
A scream was heard that filled the night.
The dark figure came closer this hour
Its low groans seemed to radiate pure and dreadful power
Oh, how this creature was the antithesis of a sweet flower
His footsteps came closer this hour.
He turned down the damp and humid street
Every murky puddle's splash marked the landing of his feet
The one who had screamed realized there was little retreat
The screamer turned off the damp and humid street.
Now the fearful shrieker fell onto the ground
The painful tumble made a tearing and scraping sound
The fearful shrieker got up and became homeward bound
The dark figure now fell onto the ground.
The dark and scary beast now rose and resumed
The screamer heard the fall and believed safety was to be assumed
With every stride the ground below the figure's boots was consumed
The screamer once again rose and resumed.
The final chase was about to commence
Into a field that was moist and enclosed by a barbed wire fence
The thick air deprived the shrieker of both thought and sense
The figure's plan was about to commence.
The figure ran with a speed unmatched
Few people understand how this evil could have ever been hatched
Onto the torn shirt the dark and dismal figure's hands became latched
In a bed the screamer awoke with a speed unmatched.

DRAGONFLY - 4/20/98

Dragonfly, dragonfly, flying so high.
Your beautiful wings seem to touch the sky.
You glide like the waves ev'rywhere you try.
Flying high, flying high, I'll ne'er ask why.

Bright white dove, bright white dove, you're a peace sign.
Your ivory plumes make me feel so fine.
You sing like a bird sitting on the pine.
Bright white dove, bright white dove, come and be mine.

Dragonfly, bright white dove, it's time to eat.
Fly with al your speed and receive your meat.
Dragonfly in front sees the white dove's feet.
Dragonfly, dragonfly, bright white dove's treat.

Atlantis - 4/20/98

There once was a land
A long way away
It sunk like a rock
The old papers say
                                        Find lost Atlantis.
It was full of wealth
And boxes of smarts
Is it really real?
It's not on the charts
                                        Find lost Atlantis.
We've hypothesized
'Bout its whereabouts
They've looked high and low
Using sonic shouts
                                        Find lost Atlantis.
It's a mystery
The answer's unknown
Come explore with me
Hear the ancient moan
                                        Find lost Atlantis.
Take a dive down deep
Go swim with the fish
It's a long journey
To lost Atlantis.

the confused frog - 5/1/98

The confused frog jumps to a lily pad
Then jumps precariously to a patch of unsupportive seaweed
Then returns, once it is safe, to the lily pad
Without warning, it jumps back to the unsupportive seaweed

The frog falls into the water
It cannot grab hold of anything
Because its hands are not yet at an adult stage.

The frog is swimming in desperation in the red water
It is too young and inexperienced
It cannot swim without the help of its group members
The frog is sinking, sinking, sinking

The frog wonders why it jumped
It thinks Mother Nature destined the frog to fall
But the frog knows it cannot blame Mother Nature.

The frog is still underwater but it forgets that it still has gills
The frog remembers the white bird that flew above him
That bird spot into the water next to him
That is when the frog jumped into the red water

The frog blames the white bird for its being in the red water
It thinks that the young baby bird was out to spit on him
But the frog still cannot do anything in the water because it forgets it has gills.

Miraculously, the frog makes it out of the red water
It is sitting on the lily pad in the night
It sees the bird fly over once more and wants to jump and catch it
The frog stops when it realizes that it was only a natural body process

Baby frogs do not eat baby birds
Because the frog cannot jump that high
The frog is of the land, and the bird of the air
The frog could never understand what it means to fly.
