This is my page dedicated to the music that reminds me of the weekend of the Cadet of the Year Competition 12th-14th January 2001 in Oxford. Feel free to e-mail me and put any of your suggestions to me and i'll see if I can put them on here!!
The Songs....
1. Texas "Inner Smile"
This song reminds me of the weekend because it was out that week and was my absolute favourite bestest song at that time, and they played it at the After Party Party so I guess it kinda reminds me of that!
2. Craig David "Walking Away"
This is pretty much for the same reason as the last but everytime I hear it I am reminded of the Party!
3. "Bob the Builder"
Long long story, but briefly I will say that when we were in our group dancing there were some interesting impressions of the plasticine man and watching 50 St.John Ambulance people dancing to the song will haunt me for the rest of my life (well, maybe not ;-)
4. Spandau Ballet "Gold"
This was one of Group B's theme songs which was first heard on the Friday night as one of the options to do the fashion show to, but then at the party on the Saturday night Group B huddled and jumped up everytime the word Gold was played - really funny and memorable!
5. Steps "The Way That You Make Me Feel"
This was also to do with the Party on the Saturday cos there were two members of the Support staff who shall remain nameless who were doing their "best" impressions of the dancing from that video avec swirly hand movements and ballroom dancing!!
6. Toploader "Dancing In The Moonlight"
On the Sunday, Laura (our Support worker person) rung up the local radio station for Oxford, Fox FM, and they recorded her speaking to say hi to all the people on the course. After they played the dedication they did this song so that reminds me, and also it was on the radio as I went home to Worcester.
7. "Oops Upside Your Head"
Yes, this is another After Party Party song, loads of people squashed into a corridor in lines on the floor doing the dance was so funny!!
8. Culture Club - That Chameleon Song
This is the song we walked down the catwalk to when we were dressed in newspapers on the Friday Night.
Do you want to know something really freaky?? All the songs apart from the last one are on the tape playing where I work as I write this??? FREAKY HUH??!!!
