My life in UBC |
July 10, 03 Woooooooo... I'm going to third year!!! hehe! I'm so happy!!! I'm not kicked out! haha! After struggling about what I should major in last year, I registered Speech Sciences as my major, and Psychology as my minor. To be honest, I had NEVER thought about doing specialization in Speech Sciences or Pyschology... When I was young, I wanted to study something about language, then... somehow (I forgot why) I gave up on that idea. Then in grade 11,12, even year 1, I thought about history and geography. But in the end... I went back to "language"... I really thought that I would major in Linguistics... however... I found Speech Sciences more practical (actually, a bachelor's degree in either Linguistics or Speech Sciences is... u know... haha!), I mean, IF AND ONLY IF I could get into Grad school... Coz with the Master's degree in Speech Pathology or Audiology, I could be a Speech Language Pathologist or Audiologist. So... now I'm majoring in Speech Sciences! Hehe!!! About Psychology... I really had NEVER in my life thought about studying it! Even when I was in first year, I thought, why the heck would I take Psyc? It's so...*???* But... majoring in Speech Sciences requires 2 200-level courses, and some other optional 300- level courses... And to fulfil the prerequisites for Grad school (of UBC as well as other grad schools in Canada), I have to take at least 6 courses of Psychology, which is just what the pyschology department requires for doing a minor. So... I just signed up for it! hehe! |
