JUNE 29TH, 2003
So I'm back in Madrid and I have a headache again, I really hope it doesn't turn into a migraine. I met my mom and we both got on the flight to Toronto although we're in economy which hopefully won't turn out too bad. The flight is completely full-there's not an empty seat!

While we were waiting for seats, I started talking to this guy from New Brunswick. He's been backpacking in Portugal and Spain for the last month. He thought I went to McGill since I lived in Montreal! I also ended up talking to a younger couple who had been on our flight over to Madrid. They'd been driving around Spain with some friends from Europe. Another person I talked to works for Spanair. She's really nice and speaks English pretty well. She's even based in Palma and was on my earlier flight today.

There are a lot of Spanish teenagers on this flight. I started talking to a girl next to me. She lives in Granada and is going to a town just outside Vancouver, to live with a Canadian family to improve her English. So basically she wad doing the same thing as I did but in reverse! She'd already been to Canada before and was only worred abou the family she would be staying with. Unlike me she didn't have the opportunity to know the people she was living with.

We arrivede in T3 and had to take a shuttle bus to T2 because the new terminal isn't completed yet. Customs went fine and we got our entire luggage- we also got the email address of the Spanair flight attendant so we can keep in touch with the Spanair community.
Our flight to Montreal was at 7, but the bad weather delayed our flight 3 hours! The airport sounded code red which meant that no airplanes could take-off or land. It was frustrating just sitting on the plane and not moving after over 18 hours of traveling. As the plane finally left the gate in Toronto, I started thinking about my whole experience in Spain. Tears starting rolling down my cheeks and I realized what an amazing time I'd had. The first couple of days had been tough but I finally managed to settle in and adapt to Spanish lifestyle. I already miss Spain and its people.

At 11:30 I finally arrived back home- it'd been almost 24 hours since I left Christine and Tony's house in Mallorca-I'd just flown almost half way around the world!
