Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina of August, 2005 is the costliest hurricane to ever hit the U.S. One of the reasons for this large amount of damage were the outdated buildings. These structures were built many years ago. The current building code is much more strict about how strong a building is. Storm surge is a large part of the damage of hurricanes. When the levees failed in New Orleans, a lot of the city was underwater. Stronger levees will definately be a difference in the future.
