With her somewhat demure frame, beautiful Southeast Asian appearance and her trademark “tell it to the hand” setup Nicol David is one of the hottest properties in all of women’s sport. She began playing squash competitively in Malaysia at the age of eight. By the time she was twenty-one she had won two Women’s Junior World Squash Championships.
This year Nicol David’s squash career has reached new heights as she laid claim to the Women’s World Squash Championship by beating Australian Rachael Graham in straight sets. In her modesty all that Nicol had to say was: “I didn’t think it would be that fast.”
Modesty aside Nicol David’s future looks to be a bright one. With this year’s World Championship under her belt we will no doubt see more of her in the media throughout Malaysia and anywhere fans of squash and women’s sport abide.
