Lasers are used for many things most of which you would never think of. Lasers can be used to make
precise patterns in glass and metal, measuring distance accurately (time of flight and in interferometer) and to
provide intense heat in controlled fusion experiments. Lasers are commonly used for medical reasons like to
remove red birth marks known as "Port Wine Stains", removing gallbladders, to reshape corneas to correct
poor vision, for visually examining the interior of an organ such as the bladder, or stomach and repairing blood
vessels. Lasers are also used in everyday life such as in supermarket checkout lines, CD players, very precise
light sources and to transmit most telephone signals.
