God never shows favoritism

- by Nicole Ng

27 Aug 2003

I know our God, Jehovah, the creator, the God of universe. Human are living with prejudice, own prefernece, and are inborn with subjectivity.
We may tend to like a certain color or specific food, or special genre of music. We choose to talk to people who we like and find comfortable.

But God is not just the creator of you and me, but the creator of every one, even the imperfectones, the foolish (in our eys), the short and tall, the poor and the mentally retarded. He is the creatore of all things and is pleased with everything created
by him. He has already accepted our weakness. He never shows favoritism.

Jesus came to the world, not only to help those He liked, but also those dispised by the world---He healed the lamed, He comforted the Samarian women, He sat with the sinner and had pity on tax collectors. He broke the obstacles and
human rules. Even the Son of God shows love and compassion to the imperfect and unlovable, how can we, then, as servants and human, show favoritism to others who are made by the same Creator?

Then I learned that I shall accept the others' weaknesses, forgive those who sin against me and to give to those who are in need.

The shining stars

I always like looking at the sky, during day or night. I feel I am small. I see God's smile and feel peaceful. I am so amazed at God's creation.

Last friday, I admired the moon on the boat. It was a cloudy night, the moon and stars are not clear. Later on, the sky become clear and the moon are bright and the stars are shining. This is true also in our life.

Only in darkness, we see the bright shining stars. We will not see it during day time.
Only in weakness, we receive God's strength. We will not depend on God when we think we are strong.
Only in bad time, we realized we need God's presence. We will not remember him when we are in good time.
Only in a world of illusions and uncertainty, we desire God's faithfulness. We will not submit our will to him when we things are in our control.
Only in time of lack, we hunger for his provision. We will not beg him when we can feed ourselves and even have too many.
Only in sickness, we will see his healing hands. We will not come to him when we are physically and spiritually healthy.
Only in struggles, we will find the rest in his arms. We will not dwell in his house when we are struggling things for our own. Only in suffering, we are made stronger. We are tended to be broken in comforts and enjoyment.
Only in our transgression, Jesus was sacrificed and we are given new life. We rejects him when we claimed ourselves righteous.

Sky is dark, the stars shines.
Life is fragile, God protects and shields.
We are sinners, Jesus is Saviour.

Keep in touch
By Crystal

People come and go in our lives. When friends leave us and go somewhere far away, we always tell them "Take care. Keep in touch". We want to keep in touch with them because we want our friendship to last. And we know that to keep a relationship working, we have to communicate with each other. Our relationship with God works the same way.

We're always so busy. People like me who travel a lot for work may find it hard to spend time with God. When we're away from home and miss the fellowship with our borthers and sisters, we feel like something is missing in our lives. It's at these times that we're so easily tempted to let our lives be preoccupied with many things but God.

Therefore, I want to share with you how to "keep in touch" with God when you're on your way:

  1. Keep your daily devotional time
Spending time with God, praying and reading His Word every day and help us to keep our focus on God. I like to do my quiet time in the morning and ask God to help me to feel His presence for the rest of the day.
  2. Find a church
Whenever possible, find a church that you can go to when you're on your way, especially if you're going to stay there for over 2 weeks. Going to chuch, worshipping God with brothers and sisters can help us to focus our eyes on God.
  3. Join the fellowship
If you can find Christian friends around you, it'll be great to start a fellowship with them and spend time together to study the bible and pray together. If you already find a church, it'll also be good to join their fellowship or other activities.

The most important thing is to remember that God is with you wherever you go. There's no place that God cannot be.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

--- Joshua 1:9setstats 1

BE STRONG!

Nicole Ng

Deut. 31:6 "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you."

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

The world values self-sufficience and self-reliance. But how can a man drain strength from his weakness? Yet, We can be made strong by the power from above. God is our strength. He is almighty and will fight every battles for me.

When I first arrived Atlanta and felt sick physically and pyschologically. I listened to the sermon given by the pastor at Northside Community Church, and I was comforted. Though I am weak, God is my strength. With his presence and protection, I overcame home sick. God is my refuge. I can dwell safely in his house.

The way to be strong is to be depedent on God.

"Little Ones to him belong,
they are weak but he is strong
