Chapter 14
A few days later, Nick and Annie were packing to go home to Florida.  "Nick, I just want to let you know how grateful I am to you that you sacrificed your time to come here with me."
"Annie, I wanted to.  I know you think I should have stayed with my friends, but I see those guys constantly.  A few days apart from them won't hurt.  I liked meeting your family."  Annie gave him a look.  "Well, except for Alex, but the rest of your family cares for you.  Besides, like I said, I couldn't let you come up here alone."
Annie walked over to Nick and hugged him.  "I know, I know.  I will repay you for this, I promise," she said, smiling warmly at him.
Nick smiled back at her, gently brushing a thumb across her cheek.  "That beautiful smile of yours is more than enough payment."
Annie tore her gaze away from Nick in embarrassment.  "Thanks, but we should probably get going.  Our plane leaves in about three hours."  They grabbed their suitcases and headed upstairs to say bye to her family.  Carol walked them out to the car.  She gave Annie a big hug.  "Thanks for everything aunt Carol,"  Annie said.
"Don't worry about it.  But do me one thing, don't let him go.  He cares about you Annie, very much.  Don't be afraid, ok?"
"Ok.  I'll call you once we get home," Annie said, then getting in the car.
Carol then walked over to Nick and hugged him too. "Thanks again for taking care of her.  And don't forget, just give her time."
"I will Carol, I'll give her all the time she needs.  But it was good to meet you.  Hopefully this won't be the last time," Nick said.
"It better not be!  Now you two get going or you're gonna miss your flight," Carol said.
"Alrighty.  We'll see you later," Nick said, before getting in the car.

Annie squirmed around in her seat, trying to get comfortable.  Nick reached an arm around her, so she could lay her head on his shoulder.  "Is that better?" he asked.
"Mmm-hmm," she said, totally content.
"So what are you going to do when we get back home?" he asked.
"I don't know.  I really need to find a job.  I've gone through nearly all my savings that I brought down with me, after buying the house and everything," she replied.
"Yeah, I think I have a few more days off, then we start rehearsing for the tour."
"Tour?  You're leaving?" Annie said, not even trying to hide her disappointment.
"Well, we have rehearsals for about three weeks, then we're leaving," he said, disappointment evident in his voice as well.  Neither of them wanted him to go.  Both were so used to having each other around that they couldn't imaging life without the other around.
"Oh, I see," she stated quietly.
"Annie, I don't want to go.  For the first time in my life, I don't want to go on tour.  I don't want to leave you," Nick said.
She snuggled up closer to him.  "I don't want you to go either Nick.  I don't wanna be all alone again," she said, lightly breaking into sobs.
"Annie, we'll figure something out, I promise," he said, her sobs tearing his heart apart.  He would find a way, he just had to.
"But how Nick?  I need to find a job.  And you're gonna be so busy that even if I get a day or two off, I still wouldn't be able to see you."
"Don't worry about it.  I promise you won't be alone, I promise," he said, comfortingly rubbing her back.
"I hope so Nick," she said, before falling asleep from exhaustion.  Nick rested his head on top of hers.  His mind was running wild, trying to come up with some sort of plan.  He couldn't leave her alone.  He promised Carol that he'd watch over her.  But that wasn't the main reason.  He was falling in love with her and didn't even want to think of leaving her now.  Soon, he fell asleep as well, his mind still unsure about what to do.
