Janet Frasier closed the door to her office and collapsed into her chair with an exhausted groan. 'Another hour and I can go home', she thought gratefully. She listened, half expecting yet another call for a medical team, just so she'd have to get up again. Blessed silence met her ears and she sighed in relief, lifting her aching feet to rest them on her desk. Her foot encountered something small and solid, and she bent down to retrieve it from where it had tumbled onto the floor.

The box was of a deep burgundy, made from a type of wood she'd never seen before, and she examined it curiously. Running her fingers over the intricately carved designs, she absently wondered who'd put it on her desk as she carefully lifted off the lid. A note fluttered to the floor, but it was swiftly forgotten when she caught sight of what else lay nestled in the box's soft velvet interior. With shaking fingers she lifted out the most beautiful necklace she had ever seen. The delicate gold links of the chain caught the light as they hung between her fingers, the tiny stone hanging from the necklace exuding colors she couldn't even identify.

She felt the most amazing sense of calm come over her as she looked into the stone, the swirling patterns in it's centre enthralling her with their beauty. Returning the necklace carefully to it's box, one of the patterns on the lid caught her eye, and she examined it closely. Carved into the wood, hidden in one of the designs, were two words. Te amo. Blinking away sudden tears, she bent down to retrieve the note. Janet, This is for you. The elders on P3Y27Z said it would bring the wearer happiness, and if anyone deserves that it's you. Merry Christmas. Daniel.

Taking a deep breath, she lifted the box again, re-reading the inscription to make sure she'd translated it right. Her Latin had gotten a little rusty since high school, and she wanted to be sure she understood. Then, satisfied that there was no mistake, she set off to find Daniel. Engrossed in one of his translations, Daniel didn't hear her enter his office, and he jumped almost out of his chair when she cleared her throat to get his attention.

"Janet," he breathed, trying to force his heart back down into his chest, "you startled me."

She laughed. "I can see that." She meant to ask him why he was so on edge, but the words caught somewhere in her throat and what came out was, "I love you too."

"You... you do?" He stared at her, frozen, and she moved to stand in front of him, cradling his face in her hands.

"Thank you," she whispered simply, holding out the necklace for him to fasten it around her neck. He stood, taking it gently from her and she turned, holding her hair out of the way for him as he fastened the clasp, punctuating the finished task with a soft kiss to the back of her neck.

Breathing in the scent of her hair, a sudden thought occured to him. "You speak latin?" He asked, his hands gently kneading at the tense muscles in her shoulders as he spoke. She nodded absently, her head dropping forward in pleasure at his ministrations. "I took it in high school," she explained, eyes closing lazily as a soft sigh escaped her lips. "Nos cedamus amori", he whispered into her ear.

She shivered as his arms slid around her waist, pulling her back to his chest as his lips trailed liquid fire down her throat, pausing periodically in their exploration to nibble at her ear. She turned within the circle of his arms, threading a hand through the hair at the back of his neck to pull his mouth to hers. His tongue swept teasingly over her lower lip, and she moaned softly, parting her lips to grant him entry.

He tasted good, and she fought desperately for the willpower to pull away as he pushed her further and further towards total lack of control. Cursing her job, she finally dragged her lips from his, planting soft kisses along the line of his jaw while she struggled to get her breath back. "Daniel, I'm sorry, I can't." She kissed him again, breifly. "I'm still on duty. If there's an emergency..."

She trailed off as her lips found his once more, and she absently wondered if she had enough willpower left to stop kissing him again. He smiled against her lips, and she decided that there was no possible way she was leaving this office with her sanity intact. Reaching for the phone, she punched in General Hammond's extension and fought to control her breath as the man in her arms trailed hot kisses over her neck and jaw line. "General Hammond? This is Doctor Frasier." Daniel paused in his ministrations to listen to her end of the conversation. "I know it's short notice, but I was wondering if I could leave an hour early this afternoon. Cassie just called and she's not feeling well so I thought... yes, sir, thankyou, I will. Bye."

She dropped the phone back onto the hook, feeling bad for lying to the General, but the grin Daniel gave her as he picked her up and deposited her swiftly onto his desk quickly drove all thoughts of work from her mind. He pulled off her shirt, repeating the action with his own as he strode over to the door and turned the lock. Returning to her, he knocked a pile of papers to the floor to lower her gently back onto the desk, and she briefly wondered how long it would take him to put them back in order.

His hands were cool on her flushed skin, a stark contrast to the heat of his lips as they moved over her. He undressed her slowly, deliberately teasing her with his pace until finally she couldn't take it anymore and sat up to help him. He laughed at her impatience, and she silenced him with a passionate kiss as she reached for his belt buckle. "You wouldn't be laughing at me by any chance, would you Doctor Jackson?" She whispered against his mouth, and she felt his answering grin.

"Me?" He asked innocently, threading his fingers through her hair to pull her to him again. A soft moan escaped her lips as he broke the kiss, leaning over to capture a nipple while his hands roamed her body. Finally, after what seemed to Janet to be a decade of sweet torture, his fingers found her and she arched against him, his name tumbling from her lips on a broken cry. "Daniel, please, now." She breathed, almost incoherent.

Needing no further encouragement, he groaned into her neck as he pushed into her, his hands running down her arms to interlace his fingers with hers. Lifting his head to look down at her in wonder, he couldn't help the slow smile that spread over his face as the enormity of the situation washed over him. Her answering grin told him she felt it too, and as she pressed up against him he thanked every god he knew for sending him such a precious gift.

Their breathing became laboured as he moved inside her, soft moans and gasps of pleasure filling the small room until finally his movements became frantic, and as waves of ecstasy rippled over her she watched him follow her over the edge. It was a few minutes before either them found the strength or the will to move from their tangled embrace. Daniel finally stood, pulling her up to stand in his arms.

He hugged her tightly, and they held each other for a long time before the knock at the door startled them out of the moment. "Danny?" It was Jack, and for a brief moment Daniel wondered if keeping silent might make him go away. "Daniel, you better be in there, you're supposed to be giving me a ride home, remember? Hello, open up!" Damn.

"I'll be right there, Jack." He threw Janet an apologetic look, to which she only smiled, and as they dressed he mentally ran through every possible way he could think of to get Jack to leave. Unfortunately, short of knocking him over the head with one of his recently acquired stone artifacts and locking him in a supply closet somewhere, which he had to admit was actually looking rather tempting, he couldn't think of a possibility that would actually work, and so he was forced to open the door.

"How come the door's locked, anyway? I was starting to think you'd--" the Colonel broke off as he looked from Daniel, to Janet, to the mass of papers on the floor, and then back to Daniel. His eyes went wide as he processed the scene before him, and as he backed out the door he couldn't resist shooting Daniel a grin that clearly said 'you are so never going to live this down.' "Give me your keys Danny, I'm going to go wait in the car."

Daniel threw him both the car keys and a warning look that he knew accomplished absolutely nothing as Jack sped off towards Sam's lab. Janet sighed good-humordly. "He's going to tell Sam, isn't he?" Daniel nodded, and Janet laughed.

"She's going to be taunting me with this until the day I die." He shook his head in wry amusement, looking back towards the still open door.

"You think Sam's bad? Jack is going to have a field day." Janet nodded her agreement, wrapping her arms loosely around her lover to study his face.

"Do you mind?" Daniel looked confused.

"Do I mind what?"

"Everybody knowing about us."

Cradling her face gently in his hands, he kissed her deeply before answering. "I love you. I'd go to the control room right now and announce it over the base speakers, if I wasn't already occupied with other things." He kissed her again, his tenderness conveying what words could not.

"You have to go anyway," she reminded him when the kiss had ended, "Colonel O'Neill's waiting." He looked disappointed for a moment, then hugged her, kissed her hair and made for the door. He turned just before he reached it, regarding her seriously. "Will you--"

"Yes." She cut him off playfully, and he laughed, a mischievous glint appearing in his eye.

"Okay," he shrugged and headed out into the corridor. She followed him, staring after him in surprise.

"Hey, aren't you even going to tell me what I just agreed to?"

"Nope." He continued on down the hall, feeling her eyes boring into him.

"Daniel!" He waved to her cheerfully, and she stood outside his office and watched his retreating form, mouth agape as she tried to decide whether she wanted to laugh or hit him. Fingering the stone around her neck thoughtfully, she smiled, deciding that whether he was going to ask her to marry him or just close the door on her way out, either was fine with her.
