Dead City (Legion of the Night) 1995

A scientist tampers with dead tissue regeneration which of course, leads to organised crime which uses this new race of "Ultimate Killing Machines" to their advantage. The Doctor is then blackmailed into creating an army of "Cybernetic Zombie Assassins" to exact bloody hits on the mob's rivals. However, the creater of this army is killed on a hit which goes terribly wrong. So therefore, the doctor's son and assistant team up to seek revenge on the mob boss who killed the doctor. Of course, a glitch happens and these monsters go on a killing spree in the city, and when an attempt by the doctor's son to stop them nearly ends in his death, he takes the ultimate sacrifice and becomes one of the CZA's to duel with the army of undead killing machines.

A band of young filmmakers break into an abandoned hospital (as we all do) to make a horror movie. However, they stumble upon a real dead body, and like any sane people, decide to include it in their movie! Somehow, they bring the body back to life (*groan* is this bad or what?) and they open a portal releasing a plague of zombies from the dead world. Finally, the try to flee from this hospital as somehow the zombies have them locked in! It doesn't get much stranger and worse than this...no wait, I tell a lie, The Video Dead is definately worse!

Zombie Nosh (Flesheater) (Revenge of the Living Zombies) 1994

Much like a zombie, this movie seems to be a bit of a lumberer and somewhat of a stumbled shuffler. Gut wrenching scenes of violence and gore induces sickness at every turn. Some friends go off into the country to relax, as you do of a weekend, are disturbed by a hoard of flesh-eating zombies on the prowl in the undergrowth. The whereabouts of the zombies originated from a farmer's unearthing of a dead man in a coffin when he's trundling about on his tractor. Of course, for no reason, the body reanimates and bites the farmer, hey presto! Zombie flesh-eating fun! And who may you ask came up with this movie then? Well George A. Romero's buddy of course, Bill (Night '68 cemetery zombie) Hinzman of course! Now this may perhaps be the only thing that makes this movie appealing. However, it can't be worse that The Video Dead surely? Accompanied by dull acting talent, we witness extreme close up disemboweling, liver extraction, massacring and nudity (to detract or possibly spread the effects of the violence in a naked body sandwich. This movie may have been made by Hinzman, but it stars him too! Oh dear...Something tells me such a legend shouldn't be as exploitative as this...dear, dear, dear. The ending I hear you cry about? Well, ludicrous as it is, you just have to point and laugh. The main characters, despite ample humanisms, i.e. shouting and flailing arms in panic, still leads to their demise! This movie will and does of course carry somewhat of a huge resemblance to Romero's Night of the Living Dead...now which one is both better, scarier and more original? Let me think on that one...

"Unearthed! Unstoppable! Undead!"

Shot in totally tosh 'handy-cam' ability, this film is not exactly top notch. Well, it is top notch if you are looking at how good a shit film this is. The total rubbish title is so obvious it's like telling your grandmother you hate the sweater she knitted you for Christmas is rubbish by whacking her in the face with a concrete shovel! Zombies appear over and over, simply taking the piss out of the viewer and the plot is filled with Acme style holes. This is independent filmmaking alright, but it's not very good. This movie only has merit as a trash drinking movie to watch when you're drunk and trying to score.
