As Gwen approached the Warf, she noticed a tall frame leaning against the rail, staring into the Bay. She knew it was him. She pulled her wrap tightly around her body. The figure slowly turned toward her. He was wearing khaki slacks and a black sweater. As he turned, she realized who it was, the blonde hair, the hypnotising eyes...it was Nick. She froze in her steps, unable to believe her eyes. Nick began to walk towards her. When he was within three feet of her, he finally spoke, "Suprise."
Gwen stood there in shock. She could tell he was starting to feel embarrassed but she couldn't find the words. He spoke up, "Please say something, anything."
"Nick"
"Yeah, it was me"
"But why, I don't understand?"
"Because I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I know that I am out of line because of Collin but..."
Gwen cut him off, "You are right, this is out of line, but it is flattering. Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts."
"You're welcome. I wish there was more I could do for you. Gwen, I know I sound crazy but you amaze me. I want to get to know you better."
"Nick, this is sort of strange, shit, I took my neice to your concert for her, not me. I am not even a fan, sorry but it is the truth. And, you are younger than me...and lets not forget the fact that I am engaged."
"I know of those things," Nick stated as he looked down in disappointment, "But it doesn't seem to matter in my eyes. This is not my typical behavior. I don't want you to see me as a Backstreet Boy, I want you to see me as a man, I am a man you know - 22 isn't that young."
"I just don't want to lead you on."
"Just say you will have dinner with me, that is all I ask. If you don't enjoy my company tonight I will leave you alone, but please, give me a chance to show you what I could give you."
"Alright, I guess there is no harm in that." Gwen stated as if she had been defeated. The truth of the matter was that she didn't want to say no. They headed off toward a limo that was parked on the street. |
