Chapter 10

Nick arrived at the Stadium just as sound check had started.  He was beaming.  They rehearsed all afternoon.  When they were finished, the guys hit the showers.  Nick decided to call Gwen before things started to get hectic around there.  He dialed her number, the phone rang four times, when he was about to hang up, a very sleepy voice answered the phone, "Hello..."

She sounded so cute he thought to himself, "Hey sleepyhead."

"Hi" she replied in a soft, scratchy voice that sounded as innocent as a little girl.

"Well, it sounds like it is a good thing that I called or you may have slept through tonight."

"I know...how has your day been?"

"Busy...I have been in my world.  I don't really want to be here, you see, there is somplace else I would much rather be."

"There is someplace else I would much rather you be too."

Brian walked into the dressing room.  "Well, I guess I should tell you how we are going to do this tonight.  It would probably help."

"Yeah, somthing tells me that I could have trouble getting to you if you didn't"

Laughing, Nick said, "You are probably right - OK - all you have to do is be outside of your building at 5:30."

"That's all"

"That's it, after you get here, Gus, my bodyguard, who will be in the car will bring you to me."

"You really want to make sure I get to you don't you?"

"You know, you are a very very valueable package, wouldn't want anything to happen to you."

"Alright Darlin', thanks for looking out for me, I will see you in a couple of hours."

"Can't wait, bye Doll."

As they hung up, Gwen sat there for a moment, reminiscing about the night before until she noticed the time, it was after 4. "SHIT!" she yelled as she made a run for the shower.

Meanwhile, back at the Stadium, Brian sat next to Nick on the couch and asked, "Was it worth it?"

"She is amazing," Nick replied in a daze.

"Nick, I am not talking about last night, I mean the whole situation, her - Collin, you know, the fact that she is supposed to marry him."

"We didn't get into that and honestly I don't want to, not this weekend.  I just want to spend time with her and show her that we belong together.  Bri, she told me she loved me last night.  Sure, I have had sex lots of times, but I have never made love before - until last night.  I saw what I am missing and I am not going to let her get away."

"If you are sure..."

"Bri - I have never been more sure of anything in my life.  I am in love with this girl."

"I just think you need to remember what you both stand to lose."

After they talked awhile, Nick finally got up and made it to the shower.  His thoughts were consumed with Gwen and what the future could hold for them.  He began to worry, not about the feelings they knew that had for eachother, but the toll this relationship could take on her life.
