Day of the peaks, Sat July 3rd 1982

Engineering work relaying the "throat" at St Pancras saw WCML diversions into Euston for what was to be 3 days in July 82. A rail strike the following day meant only Saturday 3rd July saw the Leighton area visited by "peaks" galore!

Most services were diverted via the Bedford-Bletchley branch, some Sheffields were electric hauled to Nuneaton. Most local locations were visited on this unique day in local rail history in good weather too.

An unforgettable day!
