Oxford, 1961 Courtesy of "Brush Veteran"/RM web

A thread by "Brush Veteran" on 1960's and 70's archive shots has some simply awesome views from this rarely featured period. 1 sample here with a possible local connection is 7095 with what could be brick empties for Claydon brickworks. Much brick traffic was generated from these works in the 60's

Wembley Central, 250668 from the "60A" collection, with thanks

E3068 (85013) takes 1A28 through a Wembley Central at great haste, an OLE train is on the slow lines

Northampton, 200782

With the number position giving away a Springburn works HGO, 25049 takes the evening vans from Aylesbury into Northampton. Northampton at the time, with much Barclaycard letter traffic had a hoste of van trains all lost in the run up to privitisation

Bletchley station, 030591 thanks to Mark Beal

Classic Buxton stone power at Bletchley with 37682 and 37684 providing the traction

Rugby, 250694

In recent times early evening down flask workings are commonplace. Back in 1994 it was extremly rare to see flask movements locally as they usually passed through LB around 2am. Probably in reaction to the signalman's dispute at the time heres 31450 at Rugby with the down flask complete with regulation brake van

Royal Albert Bridge, 210609 thanks to Neil Evans

Not your usual "Royal Albert Bridge" angle!, as part of the bridges anniversary celebrations our roving reporter walked the bridge, the tamar road bridge can also just be seen. A 300 foot drop to the Tamar below too!

Leighton Station, 230609 thanks to "PB"

The sound of "126 tonnes of throbbing sex" in 56311 on a northbound route learning trip spices up a sleepy Leighton

Soulbury Road, 230609 thanks to Andrew Chambers

47804 takes the "green party" Salisbury-Sheffield ADEX North. Reported "Undesiro" unit problems created major delays for a host of Down workings that evening

Willesden Jn High Level, , 250609

AC testing of the lovely new 378 units has been a regular overnight local event. A DC test saw 378007 coming off WN depot to work test trains to Watford. The 378's when introduced will eventually finish off the 1976n7 vintage 313's on the North London, the DC and West London lines, which a good few will mourn

Leighton Station, 250609 thanks to "Red Cow"

After working M44 mails from Warrington late on 2306, 87002 returns North through old haunts. This is only the 2nd known mail drag she has featured in locally in 2009

Chinnor, 270609…more Chinnor phots next week

"mouldy" to some…, 31163 arrives at Chinnor with a Thame jn working

Gen snippet….Thanks to the usual sources for advising that the all day (incl Saturday) Virgin 90 turn should last a few more weeks yet..
