Local Area phots, 270909 update 1983-2009

Bletchley, May 69 thanks to "Brush Veteran c/o RM web"

E3106 takes 1A37 up Brum through Bletchley. Lots of historic detail in both loco and background, as in so many of "Brush Veteran’s" views. E3106 became 86430 in later years and was cut in more recent times

New Street, April 85,

81022 takes a short rest after working a Euston-Birmingham service formed of "Cobbler stock" and power. Some claim that 81’s could out perform 85’s in terms of sustained 100mph (and plus) running.

Bletchley, Cambridge Sidings, 0690 thanks to "Robin Morel

A work stained 31248 is stabled at Bletchley "CS"

Old Linslade, 120291

Winter’s approaching, 31107 coasts through a wintry Old Linslade with a short rake of sea lion ballast trucks

M.Keynes, 140298 thanks to Mark Beal

Before the 92’s were cleared for the Southern end of the WCML they were regularly towed South to Dollands Moor for tunnel work. This explains the "caravans" nicknames for the class. Mark catches the afternoon Winter sun nicely as 90131 drags 92013/025/010.

Leighton Station, 140909

56312 adds a bit of classic magic to the current day scene with 4Z91 Dollands Moor-Hams Hall

Atherstone, 190909

Recently reopened the footbridge linking the up and down platforms remains oos. It’s a 10 minute hike via a new footpath to leap from up to down platforms or vv. This restricts photting potential but here’s a rear view of 92041 being dragged by some shed on an up Intermodal

Stonehenge Sunday, 200909

Looking very much an industrial quarry scene the wasp stripes of a Ruston Shunter stand out from the gloom in this LBNGR view

Watford Jn, 240909

The 313 "DC" stronghold is on the wane. 378007 after working the 1637 ex Euston is seen alongside 313117 which had rumbled North on the 1717 ex Euston. The 2 passengers peering into the unit are presumably looking for the only decent seat on these units, the driver’s!

Local gen snippets….thanks to the usual sources!!

Imperial Wharf on the West London line opens 270909, this could be a good photting venue as traffic crosses the Thames. Get the 313’s there whilst ye can!

Diesel diagrams return to all LBNGR services on Sunday services throughout October

The Oct 10 kettle tour mentioned last week has now been rerouted via the WCML to Watford and will feature "Castle" 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" , times to follow. First "castle" through Leighton since the castle named res 47’s in early 2003/4.

Advance gen - Server change for the logs. With Geocities closing late October the "logs" will switch to it’s existing currently fledging fotopic website. We’ll let you know changeover day!
