Local Area phots 1983- Oct 2009

Many thanks your recent phot and gen contributions, much appreciated

Cambridge Station, 040883

On a gloomy August afternoon a rather large (to WCML men) SF "fridge" is stabled in the South "dock". 47311 came out to play later on the 1615 Liverpool St.

Leighton Buzzard, 050883

Plenty of archive features in this one and not just the vehicles on the Euston-Stirling "Motorail" with 86328 passing the "real" Leighton station with the lifted Dunstable lines in the foreground

Tunnel Hill North, 010385

An unusual upside view from Tunnel Hill North with the long gone platelayers hut in the corner as 31294 warbles through on an up ballast train. Bushes and pallisade fencing now render this viewpoint history today, as is the "goyle".

M.Keynes, 100798 thanks to Mark Beal

A regular sight for a few months was the Eurostar and match wagons on crew training runs, Mark catches 37605 and 37603 nicely here

Leighton Station, 150909 thanks to "Red Cow"

86501 looks good on 4M88 down liners through "top shack"

Imperial Wharf, 280909

A new station on the West London line the day after opening. 313107 heads 5G11 empties towards Clapham

M.Keynes Station, 280809 thanks to Andrew Chambers

31602 smoking away with 4Q68 test train from Euston

Chelmscote, 011009 thanks to Andrew Chambers

56312 powers North "grid" style with 4Z91 modal.

Bicester North, 031009 thanks to Mark Beal

47580 brightens up a gloomy Bicester with a 0645 Birmingham SH-Southend adex for a Waverley "paddlex".

Ledburn jn, 031009

Autumn colours and a bitter wind down Ledburn way, 350107 and 128 take a Northampton-Euston service South

Marylebone, thanks to "PB"

Sometimes a rogue machine, 67010 after, to be fair, a good run on the 1123 Wrexham-Marylebone

Gen snippets…thanks to the usual sources

Oct 10th steamex featuring a "Castle" has been caped but, the Railway Touring Company’s "Royal Scot" will presumably feature 86259 on the Euston-Crewe legs of the tour. Provisional times 0700 Euston, 0800 MK – calls here.

A can returns inside WN depot! First AC electric inside their old haunt for many years, 86401 had migrated back outside the depot later in the week.

Possibly a good week for fans of 86’1,’2 and "7" action next week….
