1T22 and all that, Spring 2005

A relief train is not exactly a regular event on our plasticised modern railway so 1T22 deserves a special mention.

Due to severe overcrowding on the 1818 Euston-Liverpool “pendolino” service since the March timetable change a relief service has started running on a regular basis. Booked a loco hauled Virgin set otherwise spare on its R07-G35 diagram the train s runs Fridays only as follows.. Due to the usual flexible Virgin diagramming Pendo’s can work or doesn’t work at all. Check National Rail for train running gen.

The train with WN crews then returns emcars to Euston to form G35 back to Oxley.

The train runs slow line Ledburn-Weedon to allow some down “Pendo’s “ to overtake but running time down the Trent is 110 mph timed.   This is the only surviving booked Virgin hauled service to use the Trent Valley. 1T22 has also ran on a single Thursday (240305)  prior to Good Friday. .

Like everything else the 12 June timetable changes see an 1808 Glasgow help relieve the Liverpool so 1T22 will become railway history running for 3 months.

1T22, well worth a bash!
