By 1986, booked Sunday morning daytime drags were becoming much rarer than in previous years. 141286 saw all down trains diesel hauled from Bletchley-Northampton (until 1230) with DMUs on down locals. The moves gen below is hopefully self explanatory.

Sizeable group of bashers from the West Mids and London areas were swelling the 5 local bashers present.. This didnt go unnoticed by the Bletchley PSB staff and then the announcement over the station tannoy that G05 was approaching and "it would be hauled by Thomas the tank engine!", to much laughter all round. At this time one Bletchley PSB supervisor was famous for his "Thomas" memorabilia.

Sadly , such humour is frowned upon on todays railway and on many websites!

A Chelsea footex also featured in the drags, though no gen on what locos featured, yet. As with many bashing reports there was a late twist that saw most of us withered. Class 31s featured on all drags and 25173 remained spare in the holding sidings. We were later told (it had moved when we returned) that due to an overrun 25173 had done an emergency drag from Bletchley to Hanslope and so one of the last class 25 passenger workings in the area was missed by us all! Class 25's had just about finished locally by March 87.
